FANBOX Launch and Patreon Differences

As I briefly mentioned in my previous post, I’ve started a FANBOX.

To give you some background, I originally planned to start a FANBOX when my pixiv followers surpassed 1K. That happened last October, so I registered for FANBOX. However, after trying it out, I found it difficult to use, so I left it as it was. Later, this year, I tried Patreon and found it more user-friendly, so I began my activities there. For me, I saw both as similar services, and I thought having just one would be sufficient. Although I’ve been running Patreon in both English and Japanese, I’ve noticed that there are only a few users who need the Japanese language. It could be because many Japanese people are not comfortable with English and tend to avoid using English services. Or maybe it’s because I have fewer followers in Japan. This might also be due to the fact that I mainly use English on social media. As my pixiv followers continue to grow, I decided to choose FANBOX as a platform for pixiv users and those who are not comfortable with English. I’ve also become more comfortable managing Patreon, so I felt confident that I could handle both platforms. Without my experience on Patreon, I probably wouldn’t have started FANBOX.

• Starting with the Delphox file, I think the shared content will be the same on both platforms. However, I won’t be sharing past files. I might reconsider this after they become more than a year old, but the chances are low. The range of expressions allowed on each platform will differ, and I’ll explain more about this on Discord.

• Since FANBOX doesn’t have features like polls or Discord integration, those will likely remain exclusive to Patreon. FANBOX does suggest using external services like Google Forms, so I might consider integrating them.

• Also, I intend to ensure that the prices on FANBOX won’t be lower than those on Patreon. For those concerned about the cost, I hope they will support me on Patreon, so I think it’s okay if the prices are higher on FANBOX.

• The free articles are currently planned to be exclusive to Patreon. However, depending on the situation, I might start offering them on FANBOX as well.

As you might gather from this explanation, I don’t have a strong desire to push FANBOX. I was initially attracted to Patreon and will continue to prioritize it. I’ll make sure that Patreon members don’t feel disadvantaged in terms of pricing or content.

The order of posts will also prioritize Patreon. Currently, the posting order is

Berry → Orchard → Discord → Free → X (Twitter).

Orchard follows Berry because I think it’s better for bonus content to be seen later in the order. FANBOX posts will likely follow Discord but come before X (Twitter) in the sequence.

Also, since the timing is right, I plan to post something on Discord that I’ve been meaning to explain for a while.
