Abandoning All Hope | Heaven and Hell

Most of our pop culture assumptions about the Heaven and Hell come from a single source: Dante's Divine Comedy. A work that was so important that it may have sparked a reformation in the Catholic Church.

YAY ferrets! But also... Oh, man, don't put red makeup on your eyelids! I bet it took forever to wash that off.

As far as Sodomy goes - Dante shows empathy for an acquaintance he had who he thought was a swell chap despite the butt stuff. Virgil chastises him for feeling bad that his bro is in Hell. It's kind of a sweet moment and interesting that Dante made this aside from his usual "let me tell you about this douche who's getting theirs". Also, though it's a bit muddy but where you land in Hell/Purgatory/Heaven despite committing the same sin is less about thought vs action and more about if you truly repented after the fact. Dante is saying those in hell never accepted God's grace so they're all F*ed regardless but will be placed depending on their most egregious sin. Purgatory is that you certainly indulged in that sin but you gave a solid mea culpa before you died. I'd guess Paradise is more where thought comes in. You were subject to that sin's influence but you never broke down. (in full disclosure, I never made it to Paradiso, the thought of it sounded so boring).

Why did I laugh so hard at “Dis is a ferret”? :)

Well dang, there's the one error I didn't catch. There's always one. Sorry about that 😕

Excellent episode KB! I was just thinking that it’s been a while since you let your goofy flag fly, I hope you’ll do it more often!
