Ramped Upper Unibody - Concept Update

If you zoom in and look closely to the little purple arrow -- you can see how the unibody now ramps over the blade. There is enough tolerance to let the blade fly in and out un-pinched but frees up creativity to design the sliders without concerns of having them remain shaped to hold the blade down!

By ramping out the blade edges, we get no height increase at all!

When inserting the blade upon assembly, you flex the part outward so the blade snaps in; and it's in for good and freely moves inside the unibody being completely enclosed with just the 1 single part! Others have made mechanisms that are unfriendly to moving blades below them, so they used a whole sheet layer, but that is not as strong and adds at least 1.5mm thickness.

Just letting ya know that I got Episode 5 up on YouTube at last :p I'm working on a new concept for potentially even tension on blade through full ejection currently.

Glad to hear all good! Good luck with the move, looking forward to what you've got next

Hey dude! Thanks for reaching out! Always means a lot when folks check in. I've been having to update my living situation so between work and moving its put me in a tough spot to do personal engineering -- but! I have done a couple design sessions and am targeting getting Episode 5 up on YouTube next month with posting weekly's back on TikTok!

Hey Crash, haven't seen an update from you in a while anywhere, everything all good?

CramLock

Yes, it's ok👍

Interesting, I’ll keep this in the cards going forward! Are you able to view the blender file OK in blender too? That helps show where everything goes as the files opens to the whole thing in place!

Can you make a similar video and when ? :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uWsWZ93hiA

Martin Laloshev

I’ve got a Prusa MK3!

What is the size of the printer you are using?
