Printer Settings (Hidden Blade Prototypes)
Added 2023-11-19 20:22:29 +0000 UTCMy printer settings are as following for the Blender files to have correct tolerances. (I give 0.1mm to 0.3mm spacing between moving parts depending upon part-function in the Blender file).
----------------LAYERS----------------
First layer height is 0.2mm
Layer height is 0.15mm
3 perimeter shells
5 solid layers above & below
----------------SPEED----------------
45mm/s - Perimeters
80mm/s - infill
25mm/s - (small perims, bridges, other)
----------------INFILL----------------
20% gyroid (gentle on the printer)
No Supports -- Note: I spend a great deal to avoid supports in prints because it's impossible to get <0.1mm precision if you have supports. Print parts such that you won't need them (you'll notice each part will have an orientation optimized to mate with the print bed)
----------------FILAMENT----------------
Cooling is always on. (I allowed pockets and such in my 3D model for non-precision moving sections such as magnet wells -- keep cooling for bridging)
Note: I use PLA for ease of use and to lower my costs of prototyping. Nylon could be better but that is tough to sand and print.
Comments
The magnets go under the blade and under each lock, you'll notice the pockets that they snap into looking at the STL or after printing em, there is also no need for support material (at least with my MK4) as support material makes parts to imprecise
