The State Of Indulgence - Aug 6th, 2025

It's the first State of Indulgence of the month, my pretties!

I really wish I was doing better.

The past week I've had a lot of chronic health issues flare up on top of catching a pretty bad cold, just as I'm entering into the busiest part of the month. I'm exhausted and achy and feel like garbage.

But...I'm still managing to stay in good spirits, which is a miracle right now.

Here's what I've been up to, and what's been on my mind this week:

Mastercard F*cks Things Up For All Of Us

A big impetus behind me making this Patreon to begin with was seeing more and more adult content creators get pushed off of my main work platform, Fiverr. They've fully adopted the AI slop model and are now tailoring their entire platform to support and promote AI grifters rather than professional freelancers. Now, with their 'referral' system, it's clear that they're just a few steps away from becoming a pyramid scheme.

I could tell that things were only going to get worse there, so Patreon seemed like a better fit.

It wasn't my first choice, though. I looked into all kinds of adult streaming platforms that might be a good home for my work, but more and more of them relied on Stripe, Visa, and Mastercard, which have historically had a spotty track record about working smoothly with adult content creators.

Then Mastercard, acting from pressure of anti-LGBTQ lobbying groups, censored porn games on Steam.

Any time adult content is censored out of concern "for the children", it is almost always a smokescreen for disenfranchising and outright hurting people that Christian fundamentalists don't like (ie, people like me).

I lived through it with videogames in the 90's, and its flared up every decade since. To these kinds of people, the existence of queer people in media challenges their narratives, and they'll lie, slander, and attack anyone who stands in their way of getting rid of them.

I've been contacting Mastercard's customer support via phone at least once a day since it was revealed that they were the primary instigator of this. If you care about this issue like I do, I encourage you to do the same.

The whole situation certainly hasn't helped my anxiety. I've worked in a lot of different fields and jobs in my lifetime, and of all of them I find writing (particularly adult writing) to be the most challenging and satisfying.

But it does come with the ever-present worry of it all suddenly going away because religious fundamentalists can't abide queer people and adult entertainers. It's a constant anxiety of mine.

Big YCH Sale This Month

Every year I launch a gig on Fiverr where almost all of my past Your Character Here stories are up for grabs again.

This year, I'll be launching this sale on August 10th. I'll have more details as I put the sale together.

Last year it was a catalogue of thirteen different stories. This year, the number of stories have grown to almost 20!

All of my past YCH stories will be available, with the exception of my most recent one (Blueberried In The Chocolate Factory). If you're a new follower of mine, or have missed out on some of these stories in the past, this sale is the ideal time to grab them.

Once the sale launches, I'll make a post detailing my top five favorite YCH stories I'll have available. I'll also likely have a special promotion just for you Patrons~

At Least I Have Lasagna...

With all the sickness and stress over the past few days, I needed a serious pick me up.

So, using some of the funds that you all have helped give me through this Patreon so far this month, I splurged on all the ingredients I needed to make a really big lasagna. It's one of my favorite recipes but I only get to make it a couple of times a year because of how costly it is.

Making it is a labor intensive process, but it was honestly kind of therapeutic. I love cooking and baking in my spare time, as its one of the few hobbies I have that doesn't involve screens at all.

And the results...were delicious!

I would tell you that this massive pan of decadent pasta, cheese, and meat will last me all through the rest of the week...but I'd be lying. If it's lucky, it'll last until the end of tomorrow.
