A downloadable collected version of my story "A Girl's Hope" with all story art embedded within. I'm uploading these collected versions for ease of access for fans of my work in case something ever goes awry with this platform or myself. If you really enjoy the tale I recommend downloading it. Marisa is a typical young girl with a typical family of her mother and two sisters, and a less than typical problem for a girl her age; she still wets the bed. Her nighttime issues are such that diapers for bed are a rule for the girl. Yet Marisa is an earnest girl and working to conquer her need for protection. So far she's up to a 6 day streak and making it to a whole week would be a huge win and allow her to start on the path out of the infantile underwear. But can she do it? In a desire to get myself writing community tales with different characters and possibly shorter, more quickly written pieces, I wanted to write stories based around different community artists’ pictures that had no given context. Well, this ended up fulfilling the first idea at least. The image that goes with this story was a single pass sketch that went with the batch of Inktober nightly sketches that TamaeFTT had been doing that year. While I enjoyed the works in general, this one struck me. Within the uneasy expression of the girl pictured as she looks down at the diaper she’s wearing and the dry erase board to the side a story was already told. But thinking about that single moment brought on more ideas. What was this girl’s name? Why was she diapered? What sort of a family life did she have? Marisa, as the girl would be named, quickly grew a whole family dynamic and history in my mind and from that her story, the tale of just an hour or two in one evening, seemed to flow from me on its own. More so, the single word title of the image based on the Inktober prompt got me thinking further. Hope. What does Marisa hope for? Can she hope for more than one thing? What does the reader hope will happen? It became an enticing one shot idea that I poured a lot into.
