Launching creative consulting program! (and updates)

Content Updates: Hello all! The script for the BRAT video is 99% complete, but I've decided to let it marinate a few days so I can come back to it with fresh eyes. I should be filming within the next few weeks, and from then it's quick to upload. Expect it in November. Hopefully the election does not destroy the country before then :/

New Tier: In other news, I am going to publish a new Patreon Tier for creative consulting. I've always loved giving people feedback on creative work, watch them grow, and having mentees in college was one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had. Some of my fellow creators have started offering consulting-type Patreon benefits (shout out Lily Alexandre), and have found it rewarding, so I'm going to launch my own! If you're serious about doing video essay or adjacent type work, I would love to work with you.

Since I am going to commit a good chunk of time and effort towards this, and since I'm confident I have a valuable knowledge to pass on, I am setting the price at $500 monthly, limited to three people. BUT I want to offer a special price for current Patrons: for the next few days or so, the price will be at $400 before I make a more public announcement. I totally understand that it is a heavy financial cost for many people, but I'm committed to making it worth it for anyone passionate and serious about creating. Another reason I'm doing this is because it is not cheap or highly profitable to make free, high quality longform political content on YouTube. I've been able to fund the last few videos with your support and because the hbomberguy stuff truly was a huge bump in ad revenue in the last year, but I am conscious that the peak has been slowly declining (as I expected it to!). I'm definitely in a better, more stable position than I was before the exposure, but having this extra income will absolutely help fund the production in a way that won't take away from things like... groceries.

Here's what we'll do together:

• Four weekly 1 hour calls where we work together based on your goals. This could be brainstorming ideas, feedback for work, strategies for growth, creating attainable goals, and more. 

• I will provide weekly briefs with written versions of my feedback on your work and personalized advice tailored to your goals based on my experience as a content creator and as someone who has worked with other content creators. 

Feedback can include:

• Research tips and suggestions for your interests based on my work as a published researcher in sociology and as a research assistant on multiple teams.

• Strategies for growth and branding on YouTube based on my 9 years of experience as a large creator.

• Specific feedback on writing for video essays including organization, flow, tone, clarity, and other aspects based on your specific goals!

• Feedback on how to improve editing, production, and style personalized to your budget constraints. 

• Tips on how to improve presentation/speaking/narration based on my experience as a paid public speaker.

• …and more

 While my specialty is video essays, as online media changes overtime, I encourage projects that experiment with the format and push it beyond what it currently is.
