Town Hall Discussion Questions and RSVP

Hey all! Just as a reminder, we're having a Town Hall on the subject of genAI in less than a week! NOV 14 at 8PM EST

Depending on turnout, we may just have an open discussion. If the turnout is higher than is feasible for that, then I will create sign ups for collective discussion sections.

It will help alot if you RSVP beforehand:

Here's some potential discussion questions I'm thinking of:

Anything other questions you think would be interesting to pose?

NOTE: The meeting will be recorded, but it's just for my records. It will not be publicized.

What time is the Town Hall? I feel dense, but I forgot to add it to my calendar and don’t see the time anywhere, only the date.

I should be able to attend. Looking forward to virtually meeting up with Alex and my fellow members of your patron community.

I would actually LOVE to talk about something other than the election 😓 The election’s heavy and I’ve been engaging and thinking about it a lot, but I’d love to connect with other humans over ideas. In my experience, these sorts of spaces can still go well and stay focused if you just open it acknowledging that the election sucked and people are holding a lot of pain and fear, and that we’re gonna talk about a different thing because we’re not in a great space to open that can of worms and we want to focus on a different angle of the large, interconnected project of figuring out our world and making it better.

Yeah I get it. I'm not in a productive space either

I'd be interested to include the questions asked in Ivan Ilich's "Tools For Conviviality." Andrewism did a video about it recently and it seems like a very useful... tool.

Unless an emergency happens I plan to be there. Also re election, I think this AI conversation is still just as urgent and the meaning of art just as significant because they reach deep to the question of what it means to be alive and why we fight for social justice in the first place

That’s fair! But I don’t know if I’m currently capable of providing a productive space for this other than encouraging people to get connected with their local (queer) community ASAP. And I wouldn’t want to just host a doomer call. As we know more about the results and what the next administration will look like, I will consider this for a December or January town hall.

E

I suspect people don't want to talk about anything else other than what just happened with the election, and what comes next
