First, I accidentally scheduled the "questions for Jessie Gender" post twice. So if you commented on the newest one, please re-comment on the old one .
Second, I've never liked the name Digital Dialects. I think its stupid. Last night I was making fried rice and I thought, "Oh, you know what would be a cute name and kind of academic sounding so that it's on brand? Peer Review." So what do you guys think? Is Peer Review cuter than Digital Dialects? Worth it??
On the Town Hall
This subject sucks!!!! While it might be "fun" to speculate about how and why (depending on what people are interested in), that feels endless and unfruitful.
A lot of people came to me after the election asking "What can we do now?" I'm reminded of a video by the amazing Dr. Fatima: A Practical Guide to System Change. This will be some "suggested reading" for the upcoming Town Hall. I want less "what happened?" and more "what next?" If you find yourself asking the latter question PLEASE COME. If you think you have somewhat of an answer to the latter question PLEASE COME. If you haven't even formulated this question yet, you should, so PLEASE COME.

Peer Review *is* cute and more fitting than Digital Dialects imo!

2024-12-11 23:18:19 +0000 UTCI loved "digital dialects", but i have a linguistics degree so half of my love for it was the inside-joke aspect I played out in my own head. Peer Review is more encompassing and more marketable for sure, even ties in to your offering consulting services and stuff

2024-12-11 20:58:36 +0000 UTCI too, love the rename, and to a much lesser extent rebrand potential of the inspired name change! Being regarded as a peer is much more welcoming sounding. I don't recommend going down the rabbit hole of what the common antonyms of peer are. In my head cannon vocabulary I had never personally associated it as so closely categorizing people who aren't your peers, with them being so closely grouped with your enemies.
