This dilemma is simple...
Case A: 3 from which selected 1 means you go 1 in 3.
Case B: 3 from which selected 1 after which one was shown. this reduces chances to 1 in 2 for which you can now ignore what you picked and go either 1 or 2 so 1 in 2
Case C: 3 from which you select 1, after while wrong is shown and you can pick the replacement instead, now considering your previous choice. for 1 in 3 compared to 1 in 2 to now 1 in 3 to 1 in 2 and you end up with a mess. Simplified always pick the replacement

Nope sorry puppy is cute and all but no puppy is ever the best dog. To even be considered for that you need to be house broken.

Nope Kevin is Right. When you made the choice you had a 33% chance of being correct. When you are offered the switch there is a 50% chance of the other door being correct while your door is still at a 1 in 3 chance.

Personally I think Holt is right. Sure, if you pick door B then discover the car is not behind door A, the chances of it being B from the start are only half the chances of it being A or C (and thus C) from the start. But that doesn't take into account the fact that if you had picked door C to begin with, the chances of it being C would be half the chance of it being A or B (and thus B). The probability that locks in when you make the choice is cancelled out by the probability that would have locked in if you had made the other choice.
