Lorelai's painting song reminds me very strongly of '9 to 5' by Dolly Parton. The only actual 'painting song' I can think of is 'Paint Your Wagon' from the Simpsons episode parodying the 'Paint Your Wagon' musical, where the original is a metaphor for leaving town.
