We know Klaus been going easy on the crew the entire time or they would have all already been dead the moment he came to mystic falls lol. Probably has a soft spot for Stefan considering their history as pals.

2024-09-23 04:19:30 +0000 UTCI don't think her age matters, nor that she's not his parent. Jeremy has died enough times for his last relative to have had enough scares and put his safety over all. It's not hurting him. Free will is an illusion anyway. I don't know... since the show started Elena has been on Jeremy to straighten up. I don't think they've had a 'just' siblings dynamic since their parents died. Elena has been in caretaker mode with him. But basically, I feel like too many in the fandom get bogged down in these criticisms when it's a supernatural show. Where everyone gets compelled over something. Elena just gets nitpicked more. Caroline compelled her mom to forget for awhile, every vamp compels people to forget they were used as blood bags, or something they shouldn't have seen, etc... It's just the way things go. Mainly though, Bonnie had no place to criticize because she's done things, too. I understand her and others' point of view... at least the show addressed that aspect of it. But honestly, I don't know how some people enjoy the show when every little plot point is harped as toxic! agency! (Unless it's Stefan.) The younger generation exhausts me with indignation over soap opera fiction.

Sure as legal guardian she can probably send him away without his consent but he, as a person, still should be able to have his own thoughts and opinions, even if it's just to be upset about being sent away. There's a massive moral difference between making legal choices for a minor and literal mind control. And even aside from that you have to consider the context that despite being legal guardian Elena is still not a parent to him, in fact she's barely two years older and still in school. There will be nuances to their dynamic and how they operate as minor and guardian, law or not, because for their entire lives until recently they were on equal footing as siblings. It would be hard to go from that to one sibling having legal authority over the other.

2024-02-23 04:52:26 +0000 UTCI enjoy this episode, but after all these years I still can not shake the feeling that this storyline of Stefan vs. Klaus does not make any logical sense. When Stefan shows up in front of Klaus, Klaus could just arrest him, bleed him off vervain and make him tell him everything and make him return his family. In general mind compulsion is not utilized in this show how people like Klaus would use it. He could just make an army of slaves that could have done anything for him after they then took vervain, including all attacking Mikael at the same time. Any vampire that is not an original becomes trivial to the originals because compulsion is so op. In short, mind compulsion that can be used on vampires results in massive amount of plot holes for this show.

I'm all for free will... but none of us really have free will at 16, unless we're emancipated. Elena gets a lot of flack from fandom about violating Jeremy's 'rights'. But I sure didn't get to decide much when I was his age. If my folks wanted to restrct me, or send me away... then that's what would happen. The younger generations who watch these shows... which are mostly devoid of adult presence... seem to forget that minors don't usually get to make all of their own decisions. So, right or wrong, I get it. And I think Bonnie, while well-meaning... was being a bit hypocritical to criticize Elena about over-riding Jeremy's consent. I remember when she channeled Luka's witch energy without his consent, etc... They are all 'human', doing their best... and making imperfect decisions in an effort to protect those they love.

2024-02-18 04:43:15 +0000 UTCI don't know about other fans of the show, but that scene between Klaus and Caroline is when I fell in love with the Klaus character. Oh, he's still a horrific villain and a terrible person, but there was something about that scene that gave us a glimpse beyond what he allows others to see. A thought that maybe he's not rotten to the very core and there's more to him (whether or not that's true, we'll have to wait and see as the series progresses). That scene brought something beautiful and poignant, an almost human vulnerability to the hybrid monster.
