Progress Report #8

 

Hey hey! Time for a new Progress Report!

The development of v0.05 began right after the public version of v0.04 launched!

It took me a while, but now I can finally show some of the new features coming with v0.05!

 

This update follows a similar idea of v0.04, reworking crucial parts of the game that needed a revamp while adding a good amount of new content.

(And hopefully, from v0.06 onwards, I will be able to focus 100% on adding only new content.)

I will start with one of the biggest new features that will come with it, Gallery 2.0! (The following gif is a bit heavy, so it might take a while to load!)

Here are the main reasons I've made this new gallery:

  • Some characters' busts can only be seen at their events (Gura's towel/naked, Pacifica's...), and some players might want to just see a character's bust without having to talk to them;

  • So I've added an outfit viewer for every character, that as long as the player has seen it, it will be there! (If the player didn't progress enough to see them, they will be shown as a silhouette.)

  • The same goes for the scenes, the old gallery was functional but it relied entirely on the player's memory to remember exactly what scene they want to see based on a small description of them, and some buildup scenes like Wendy bending at the locker or Vaulty at her door, couldn't be seen again;

  • With this new gallery, every content for every character will be there, and easier to access!

  • I've also received the feedback of some people who got a bit confused with the Lusty app, with whether they were missing a scene or not, so hopefully this will be of help!

Riding along the gallery's rework, there's also the shop's rework.

At first, this wasn't in the plans until Unity's port, but serious problems with the shop appeared in v0.04, and they were caused by one of the plugins that I had to use and it couldn't be fixed without starting a new save.

I want the players to be able to keep their saves from old versions, and the only way I could see to remedy this was to make this custom shop menu.

I did my best to make it work in a similar way that it did before, so now it's just fancier and it will not cause problems to old saves.

This will affect all the shops currently in the game (Vaulty's, Takemi's, Summerween's, Bat crafting)

The only downside for both systems, is that the player is forced to use the mouse to navigate through them, and I want to apologize to the keyboard-only players about this, but I couldn't make this work properly with it. (mostly RPG Maker limitations)

For the new content, I don't have much to show for now, since I've been mostly working on the gallery/shops, but I want to show one of the new locations (WIP) that will be added to the game:

A nice and cozy bar, that will introduce new characters and a new system, part-time jobs.

I know that some players might not want to spend time killing monsters in the forest to get money, so I've had the idea to add part-time jobs, an alternative way to make money, while also meeting new characters and maybe other things~

For now, the Bar will be the only location that will have a part-time job, but I will be adding more in the future.

Now I will be listing a few things that will also come with this update:

Cammy questline (New outfit, new scenes)

New character at the gym (Cammy's questline)

New characters at the bar

New character and scene on a new location (Ancient One's patron request)

Improvements to Takemi's bust and her scene

Improvements to Bella's bust

Small follow-up scene for Mabel

Increased the resolution of the game from 1152x864 to 1366x864*

*To make dialogues less cramped when having 3 or more characters on the screen, and to allow a wider workspace for the upcoming content.

(There are a few more content that I'm not sure if it will be added on v0.05 or not, so if you want, you can expect more~)

Before ending this progress report, and a bit unrelated to v0.05's content, here are the results for the final Poll for the Special Illustration.

Thanks for everyone's votes on both polls and again, just as it happened on the first one, it was pretty fun to see the duel between Mabel and Pacifica!

But in the end, the winner was the dorkiest of them all, Mabel!

If everything goes as planned, her special illustration will be ready soon. (Not giving estimates for now to avoid letdowns!)

I believe I've talked about this on the Discord server once and it is somewhat mentioned on Patreon's about tab, but for those who don't know;

At first, Lewd Falls was just an innocent project that I came up with while still learning how to draw, as a way to help me improve my art and learn about game development.

But since the very first version (even with all the problems that it had), from the very first day that I posted it on F95, I've received an incredible amount of support, something that I wasn't expecting even on my craziest dreams.

From that day, Lewd Falls became my love project, and I know that sometimes I can be unnecessarily ambitious with it, but I really want it to be a good game, so really, thanks everyone for believing in my game!
