Big Update: Eight, Patreon, and...

Hey y'all,

I have some news to share about what's coming next. As many of you know, Eight 5 will be the final book in the series, and we're approaching the end of this amazing journey together. I estimate we have about two more months of weekly chapters before Eight's story reaches its conclusion.

The Final Push for Eight 5

Writing this last book has been quite the experience—it's taken a winding path from point to point, much like Eight and Fala's journey from Old Bashteiyel to the Eagle's Fortress. Because of this organic development, I expect the book will need extensive revision before it's ready for publishing, which will likely take several months.

I originally planned for eight books in the series (one of the central conceits), but I realized after Undaunted that continuing would only repeat themes we've already explored. While the outward spiral structure of Eight's story allows for some repetition, extending it further would become stale for both you and me.

Introducing Fate's Attendant

Rather than leave you waiting during the revision period, I'm launching my next series before Eight 5 is complete. This new project, tentatively titled Fate's Attendant, combines xianxia and LitRPG genres. It's actually a story I've been developing for a couple of years—I originally planned to start it after New Blood, Old Bones, but decided Eight deserved to complete his journey first.

Yes, this means I'll be managing two weekly releases while working full-time. It'll be intense for a couple of months, but completely manageable.

The main character, Hong Fei, has been waiting patiently for me to begin his story, and I can't wait for you to meet him.

Updated Patreon Structure

I'm also implementing a new tiering system that many other authors use. This change only affects Fate's Attendant—everyone at Level 3 will continue to have full access to every Eight chapter as always.

Here's the new structure:

Level 3: Full access to Eight + 3 advance chapters of Fate's Attendant

Level 5: Full access to Eight + 5 advance chapters of Fate's Attendant

Level 10: Full access to Eight + 10 advance chapters of Fate's Attendant

This change supports my long-term goal of eventually transitioning to full-time writing. I'm still several years away from making that leap comfortably, but this structure will help build toward that future.

Release Schedule

Here's how things will work moving forward:

• Eight: Continues at one chapter per week until the series concludes

• Fate's Attendant: Will also release one chapter per week

• Royal Road: I haven't forgotten the place where it all started. Eight 5 chapters will post to RR after I've completed developmental edits. Fate's Attendant will go live once Level 10 patrons have their advance chapters.
