NEW VIDEO: Super Play - The Story of JRPG's in the UK before FFVII

It's often said that we knew barely anything about JRPG's in the UK and Europe before the PlayStation and Final Fantasy VII came along. However, that's not really the case. Even if a lot of games didn't come out here, Super Play was the SNES magazine that championed the likes of FF6 and Chrono Trigger, and encouraged folks to go out and find them. Enjoy!

Wonderful video. I cannot talk for the rest of Europe. But in Denmark we had the same issues. Sega players got the Phantasy Star and Shinning games but SNES players was not so lucky. We had a Nintendo Magazine in Denmark that ran from 1991 to 1994 and they did review Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (for SNES) and Lufia I but I dont think either game was officially published in Denmark. It was replaced with Power Player Magazine in 1994 and ran until 1996. I think Power Player must have borrowed from Super Play as they covered import games alot. They had a dedicated section to RPGs and later also anime. And I recognized some of the layouts in the video. We did get Secret of Mana, which is one of my favorites of all time. We also got the Quintet trilogy. And we did get Breath of Fire II for the SNES. Very late in the SNES life. No Super Mario RPG either.

I was a little young for the Super Play era, but N64 and NGC magazine defined my early existence as a gamer! Thanks for such a great video!
