Also, I guess Yaguida just decided against naming names or features of the kids he encountered. . ‘Treated like prized possessions’ is a valid way to put it. Kids can ‘do no wrong,’ but if they have any trauma about them, they get carted away to be ‘corrected’ (as seen in ep2). Fuyumura in particular is (was?) in a headspace of “death is the only solution” when faced with the chance to take out someone who “would eventually become an adult anyway,” so to some degree, her trusting Sanda /as/ Santa is an “exception that proves the rule” bit. With everyone else putting expectations on “God-pa,” Sanda got the negative side of his power boost from two people believing in him; a bunch of people he knows making guesses he doubts he can live up to. And Fuyumura not being able to ‘rely’ on Sanda to lean on him (physically, he’s too small for someone her size to be supported by) hits his pride further. . I think removing the underwear was to brute force ‘get over it.’ Like, it only came up in this episode directly /after/ attacking Yaguida harder than he meant to, so he cascaded into “Did ‘Santa’ do something extreme? /Should I/ be locked up? Does it have anything to do with /that thing/?” Hearing that, no, none of those was the case flipped a switch to “Oh, cool, I’ve got my resolve” and the only way to put that on display meaningfully was… well. I’m guessing it’s something along those lines.
