Those pencils look fine but I don't think I'd particularly want one.
I don't know that the SV bonding explains the unusual hardness. I had to look it up but it seems to be Faber Castell for ‘we glued the graphite to the wood real good’.

I tried them and found them OK but no better than a regular pencil. For me at least.

They look like they might rewind a cassette tape better than hexagonal pencils, although that's probably not relevant these days.

My wife was an elementary teachers. Now she tutors the grandkids. She bought rubber/silicone grippers for pens & pencils that are triangular. For the little kids it helps them grip the pencil easier on an adult fashion vs just wrapping their hand around it.
