Always felt RJ had just been told of his illness and these next books are the start of his physical decline. All you can say is he rambles a good bit. But, thanks Daniel for this synopsis. I am about to start the reread of this book and it helps knowing the general outline. And to Kayla for the terrific job she is doing.

2025-08-22 08:11:31 +0000 UTCWe start with the borderlanders. I think you would benefit from just mentioning what they are doing here. They pop up from time to time, and becomes mildly important in the next book. Also them missing from the borderlands and the blight seemingly asleep is a great deal even if not giving much attention in the books. Is not Vandene or Adeleas also killed by the tea? Logain bonds the Aes Sedai (with a kiss) as "worders" and adds an extra spice of obedience. Becomes somewhat important later on. I think we learn that all 50 of the sisters have been bonded so by Ashaman also? This is more thing that Alviarin have over Elaida, right? I feel like that there are a lot of thing happening in small doses in this book. There is a lot of setup for future events happening. I always see these books as a restart of the series; going from small stage plotlines focused on individual plots (This group does this and this group does this, important as it may be at the time) towards a grander scale epic. BUT, it could for sure be condensed. Have you considered making the slog like one storyline? We follow each plotline through the whole slog instead of one book at a time, making it more manageable and not so jumpy? It was just a thought...

2025-08-08 18:54:21 +0000 UTCPLEASE DONT READ THIS COMMENT IF YOU HAVENT READ WINTER’S HEART: I believe Aginor wasn’t killed in this book but was revealed to be Dashiva during the Cleansing where he was also killed by one of the Aes Sedai that Verin used her janky compulsion. Anyways, love the videos, great work!

2025-08-08 18:23:35 +0000 UTCCongratulations Kayla! You’ve earned it 😊 The Shaido only have one Aes Sedai with them, but I wonder how things would have gone if they had captured more! Carridin being drowned in brandy was such a chilling scene. Don’t hit a** too hard with the new wand! :P Logain’s story was so tragic, he was a fantastic character. Liandrin was kept as a da’covale, not a damane. The battle with the Seanchan was always a struggle for me to get through, not because it wasn’t an interesting conflict, but it was quite jumpy. Rand doesn’t killed Osan’gar (Aginor’s reincarnation) in Path of Daggers, he doesn’t kill him at all in fact. Osan’gar dies in the next book and was masquerading as Corlan Dashiva. I find that this is the least favourite of RJ's WoT books for me, I dread it whenever I do my annual re-read of the series. Thank you for covering this so well :)

2025-08-07 05:17:25 +0000 UTCA new WOT summary is always a treat. Daniel, did you read the books as they came out? Those of us who did know what slog really means.

2025-08-06 03:47:10 +0000 UTCI have wondered that maybe he had all these characters and plot lines in his head but maybe didn’t feel like he had the time to refine his ideas so put them out there more hurriedly than he may have otherwise.

2025-08-05 20:18:51 +0000 UTCI'm currently on PoD for a re-read and i totally agree. Taking 5 chapters to use the bowl and have the Seanchan attack them is absolutely insane. I am glad it's so short, hopefully I can just power through in a week or so and then get to Winter's Heart.

2025-08-05 17:33:22 +0000 UTCMy take on the slog, take it for what you will - Jordan's illness was taking over more and more, but he was also doing his absolute best to put out a book in time. It seems to me that he started to put in a bit more filler space. Five chapters to say what could have been condensed into two? That's what I mean. I'm of the opinion that the entire slog would not have happened if he had more time.

2025-08-05 14:54:47 +0000 UTCRand killing like a madman is one of my favourite parts of the slog and perhaps the whole series. It makes you be in awe and terrified at first, then you discover he killed his own people as much as enemies and it immediately becomes just so depressing. Robert Jordan did such a good job in this scene. Congrats, Kayla!

2025-08-05 14:12:41 +0000 UTCLogain ended up becoming one of my favorite characters during the back stretch. I haven't done a proper reread since the release of a Memory of Light. I think this episode is enough to get me to start a reread in earnest.
