I do think the language barier through me off at first. I had friends who were die hard fans, and never understood why they liked it so much... since it’s in Korean.. but randomly saw videos on YouTube of there personalities.. then clicked on a song. After that I was hooked. I started watching explanation videos of people who speak Korean and looked at a translation.. and there music really is deep and inspiring. I do find myself in my head singing the Korean words in English and humming along the words. I wasn’t planning on that.. but it’s interesting. I guess my mind remembers the translation enough to sing along in English

Oh dopee. I guess this would be a really fun way to learn a new language, I didn't look at it like that. Thanks for sharing :)

I watch lyric videos and interpret the overall concept of the song. Once I have an understanding of the message, I focus on the sound. After listening to the songs for so long, I can actually sing the lyrics in Korean

hahah jungkook is actually really popular lol. he has always been the one who was in the center and the “face” of the group. in recent years the distribution has gotten more equal but jungkook always had or has the most screentime

For me personally, when their new music comes out I just watch a lyric video and after that i can just listen to it because I know the gist of the song. Even some songs i’ve never looked at the lyrics(because they have a lot of songs lol) but I can just listen to because they are sonically pleasing lol. It’s not much different to listening to English songs for me because a lot of times if I’m listening to music casually I’m not paying attention to the lyrics so it works for me :)

the reason why are there 8 videos in this series is because each video goes over 1 member. this first video was introducing the group and then it’ll get into each member by the other videos :)

That's interesting about the language barrier. Do you think it would be different in like say a party/ club setting? Like if you are in a Spanish party, mostly Spanish songs would play right? Would that affect you? For me like the other comment said, when you first start getting into kpop, you would want to know what it says so you look up the english lyrics that people post on youtube, but then after a month I just didn't really have the desire to look up lyrics because it just sounds nice unless I know it has some meaning to it. Plus you naturally recognize some words without you realizing so that's a plus

Just another perspective, not everyone speaks english but people still enjoy english songs all around the world. For example bts they can’t speak english that well, but they’re still huge fans of american artists even though they don’t always know what they’re saying.

Can any army tell me the song playing at 5:40 please? 💜 btw, loved you’re reaction as always. I’ve been watching you for years now on YouTube and you never disappoint! I appreciate your honesty and opinions on everything, not just your BTS reactions. 💫

I seee, thanks for sharing how you converted lol but yeah I usually like the melody and the production on their songs so maybe I'll eventually get past the language barrier

its more like look at the lyrics and then get the gist of the song that way you can enjoy it as a whole. The more you listen the more the words and translations come naturally in a way that doesnt feel like youre thinking. Plus their lyrics legit sound like poetry when reading them and their beats are good so its easy to enjoy once you pass that initial "oh i dont understand what their saying", for me it took me a few casual listens throughout a year and 3 years later im still here loool. also i really enjoy your reactions you seem real genuine and chill

Dee its like how despacito became a big hit, even tho people didnt know the lyrics they were jamming it out and only sang out loud the certain parts that they knew

As a fan who been with BTS for 2 and a half years, at first I was just like you. I didn’t get the hype over them but then I started reading the lyrics and watching their performances and when you see the passion in their eyes and in their voices when they sing and also dance on top of that it’s was so different for me. I read the lyrics for everything all the time that I almost memorized them and so when I listen to a song I already know what it’s about and it makes me enjoy it even more whether it’s a sad/happy/upbeat song.

Man this is honestly a good introduction but when you have already memorized each member and know the basics but yes all bts members produce specially their own solo stuff
