as a gay teenager, i think young gay men often feel the need to compensate for their gayness when they come out due to years of pent up rejection. its really hard for young gay indivisuals to find themselves so sometimes they over compensate like with the lil nas performance. i love everything he does but no need to be kissing people on stage. I like the homeless person convo. My mindset when it comes to that topic is always that “if I have it to spare I might as well give.” It’s not up to me to determine what that person will do with the money or decide how much they need it. If they’re desperate enough to beg, clearly their life isn’t all sunshines and rainbows so I don’t mind giving the few dollars that I might have on me bc I know I got steady money coming in. You don’t have to go all out to solve systemic hunger to do small acts that might help someone. And the also the fact that you get a positive feeling from giving to the homeless is a GOOD THING. It promotes good deeds lol. And that’s not saying I give them money every single time but if my gut tells me to, I usually will.

if i give to the homeless its mostly for the genuine reason of helping someone out. honestly, part of it does come from self satisfaction and wanting to feel "good" about yourself, but for me i really hope that whatever i can give them helps, you never know what it could do for someone. but its always risky because if you give them money you never truly know what they are going to use it for, that's why some people give them food or materialistic essentials instead.
