Ozzy Osbourne - Over the Mountain + Flying High Again

This was a fun one! We both knew very little of Ozzy so this was our way in to the rabbit hole!

Hope you enjoy this with us!

Ozzy Osbourne - Over the Mountain + Flying High Again

Never!! Looking it up now!

NicknLex

Have you seen photos of a young Ozzy? I see a strong Nick resemblance! ✨🤪

Michele

Over the Mountain drum intro a little reminiscent of Where Eagles Dare intro. (I like Nicko's better)

Hey Nick & Lex, You couldn't turn true active rock radio back in the day without hearing songs on both albums!! Ozzy's the man and he rules!!!!!!!!!!

Walter Gill

My fellow Brummie Ozzy! You need to check out some of the Black Sabbath albums. Sabotage is brilliant. Hole in the Sky, Symptom of the Universe and The Writ........

Great intro, isn't it ? Nice shredding, nice guitar playing. I had lost track of Ozzy, after he left Black Sabbath; when I was in the USA for the first time in 82, I talked to boys in the neighborhood of my relatives and they said: do you know Ozzy Ozbourne ? I said, yes, singer of Black Sabbath, and they said no, he's solo now and very successful in the US, driven by his wife Sharon, daughter of the former manager of Black Sabbath, who, I think had helped to kick Ozzy out of Sabbath. So the daughter decided for Ozzy, not her father. There are some strange stories about her, how she acted later as manager; something like not allowing certain bands to play at Ozzfest, their own festival ... I will have to ask Tim, I think, he once told me ... Other than that, I like the beginning of Ozzy, not so much his later ballads as Dreamer and Mama I'm coming home. Later it seemed to me he's copying himself. I also enjoyed very much the docu-soap on MTV about the Osbournes: Ozzy always with "his head in the clouds", Sharon being the General, 2 disturbed kids and dogs, that shit in the house, sad and funny at the same time. Overall I have to say in my personal ranking of the 3 godfather bands of hardrock, Ozzy is only on place number 3 of the singers behind Robert Plant and Ian Gillan. If you do a marathon of Black Sabbath, it should have Wizard, Iron Man and Sabbath bloody sabbath

I saw Ozzy just a couple months after Randy Rhoads died. I was really into this in my high school days '79-'83. The title track of Diary of a Madman is very good!

come together

'Blizzard of Ozz' was the first solo album. I quite enjoy the first album post Rhoads as well: 'Bark at the Moon' (it comes with a really hilariously silly front cover). But I never followed his discography after that. I'm more of a Black Sabbath guy, when it comes to this kind of music. Enjoyed hearing this with you, guys.

Murdock Moriarty

Yes I was super impressed by Rhoads playing!!! Thank you Eric !!

Nick, since you're a guitar player, I highly recommend Revelation Mother Earth, Mr. Crowley and Diary of a Mad Man. When I was in high school, I played in a band with a guitarist who absolutely idolized Randy Rhoads, so we played many of the songs from the first two Ozzy albums.

Eric Thompson

Ozzy is a very deep rabbit hole to start down. This man has been around over 50+ years! I think it's all the drugs he's done in his life has pickled and preserved him like a mummy...lol. His solo work is great. Try theses albums "Blizzard of Oz", "Bark at the Moon" or "No more Tears". Some notable tracks "Mr. Crowley", "Crazy Train", "Iron Man", "Mama, I'm coming Home", "Paranoid", and "Hellraiser". Just to get you a good start...lol. He also did a track with Lita Ford called "Close my Eyes Forever" it's a hauntingly great song. Keep on keeping on you guys!
