Snarky Puppy - Lingus (We Like It Here) [Video Reaction]

Hey everyone!

I surprised Nick and threw him blindly  into this awesome show - no regrets!

This was beyond words, and we hope you think so, too! Thank you for being here and for everything you do.

Enjoy and Happy Monday! :)

With love,

Nick, Lex and Marley

Such a wonderful organic flow to their music coupled with very comfortable free interplay between the players. Miles Davis said it best: "The best bands are all democratic."

Omg, you're gonna see them and Steely Dan in the same evening. I wish I lived in America 😂

Sander Kristiansen

The reason why songs from Alive In America sound different from the studio version is because none of the original musicians played on the 1993 and 1994 tours. So the musicians are allowed to improvise and make it their own instead of playing it note for note as the studio version. Fagen and Becker also like to change the arrangements for the live performances. Reelin' In the Years is a perfect example as it sounds very different from the studio as does Bodhisattva with the added horns. But I still respect your opinion. There's a new Steely Dan live album called "Northeast Corridor" that came out last year. It was recorded in the fall of 2019. You might enjoy it more than Alive In America.

... and their joy on stage reminded me of The Aristocrats - Guthrie Govan - Bryan Beller - Marco Minnemann - after you reacted to them, I bought one of their live DVDs - Culture Clash Live - Sooo much fun to watch - great musicians with lots of fun on stage

Phantastic piece of music, so much fun, to watch these guys on stage. I first heard of Snarky Puppy through you and in the last weeks I watched and listened to several of their concerts in youtube. Last week I watched their 2014 concert at Java Jazz Festival. Sunday night I wrote to Michele about it and told her Lingus was my favourite song of the concert. She wrote back "what is this telepathy ? I was going to do a BMC request ... and then you record this on Monday night. Do we have a telepathy triangle now ? :-) Talking about the "concert exchange": I thought the same as you Nick ... Stevie Winwood is a legend ... but not everybody's taste; I for example don't really like his voice, which he is loved for by many others. So I also would have been glad, when I hear, that Snarky Puppy is playing instead ...definitely more fun. And asking for a refund, because the opener of a concert is exchange, is the opinion of one person - I guess most of your subscribers would prefer to see Snarky Puppy. Fun fact : Nick, I played to you last year a record of Mark Lettieri - Starcatchers ...we both loved it ... it had a great brass part in the end. Well, when I checked infos on Snarky Puppy, I found out, Mark Lettieri is a member, he's one of the 2 guitar players .............AND !!!! They will (hopefully) play in Cologne on Oct 14th ...guess, who's gonna go :-)

Just frickin’ spectacular! I’d never heard these folks; time for a personal deep dive. Thank you guys soooo much. And you’re right; there is simply no form of communication more sublime and transcendent than when musicians get in a groove together. Magic

Joy, joy, joy! What a joyful group of super talented musicians! I loved it and look forward to discovering more of their music! Thank you, Lex, for this great surprise!

Debra Brabenec

And he's so humble too! He was walking around the GroundUp Fest Miami in 2017 and I stopped him to ask him about the whole story... not only did he confirm that whole story, but he wanted to hang out and chat about music.

I love the Holdsworth "Live in Japan" show as well! My first exposure to fusion was "Metal Fatigue" back in high school so i do have a sentimental attachment. But yes, as Nick and Lex point out, there needs to be a new generation to pick up that torch, to bring some new energy, and seriously... I thought the fusion community was doomed until Michael League and SP came along!

Larnelle Lewis, the drummer, learned this piece on the plane the day before this session. He is AMAZING!

This was on my list as my very next request! Great selection. Now I’ll watch ... yay! ✨🤪
