I'm loving this for belly. | The Summer I Turned Pretty 3x10 REACTION

I'm actually so happy she has a thing going with Benito because now when she decides that connie is the one, she will have at least had another experience with a seemingly great guy and still chooses conrad. fingers crossed for a finale of an episode. also - Jeremiah didn't piss me off this episode really - what a shock. we love growth jere, even baby steps. snaps for jere guys. 🩶🤣

ahhh I really enjoyed reading this comment! especially that last bit. These last two episodes really did feel like the Jeremiah that I loved in seasons 1 and 2. I never loved him and belly together, but I did enjoy watching his character and it was completely demolished this season and filled me with such anger towards him. Im so happy that I got some of those feelings back these last two episodes!! also, he really is carmy - rich surfer bro edition 🤣

One thing that Jeremiah has always done SLIGHTLY better than Conrad (until recently, they flipped the script a little on that front) is the way he handles his feelings. It’s definitely immature of Jeremiah to take his feelings out on everyone else around him, and spending that whole last episode practically curled up under the bar was kind of a bummer. On the other hand, it’s better than Conrad “I-was-never-a-liar” Fisher’s go-to of keeping everything to himself and pretending everything is okay until he starts getting panic attacks. Being a doctor, let alone an oncologist, is already gonna burn Conrad out enough, no need to make that extra-easy. Jeremiah definitely needed to hear that Belly isn’t an object for him to cling to or compete for, but that’s kind of an easy stance for Conrad or anyone to take. Before Conrad can really try being with Belly again, he’s got a bitter pill to swallow himself; Belly isn’t for him to protect or save. Protecting her from the truth about Susannah’s illness, his grief, an ill-advised marriage, that’s the growing up that Conrad needs to show Belly he’s done. Jeremiah could’ve saved himself some hurt by not going for it with Belly, but Conrad could’ve saved himself a lot more pain in the motel, so these were all just mistakes they needed to make. Maybe the larger point is that these kids all need to stop living for Susannah, like Belly’s starting to do. Jeremiah is bossy in the kitchen, he makes Korean food for Belly’s family that her grandmother apparently loves, I think blond Fisher might’ve found something better for himself than working for his father (Carmy Berzatto, “Surfer dude” edition?) Seriously tho, we’re finally starting to see more of the loyal little brother who pulled that all-nighter with Conrad and made the whole drive with him so he wouldn’t flunk out of school
