A Break

Hey all, it's been a while since I've made a text post like this, but I'm making an announcement that I'm taking a small break from art and the Patreon. For a few reasons mainly.

The first is that, simply put, I'm extremely dissatisfied with my own work and I want to improve, so I'm going to be spending time refining my skills so I can make the best possible art I can. While I appreciate the support and kind words all you guys give, I feel like a bit of a fraud art-wise, and I hope with some time doing practice and studies I'll be able to correct it, if even just by a little bit.

The second reason is more personal and is due to life circumstances. As some of you are aware I've been taking care of my elderly grandfather for the past few years, and it's gotten to the point where it's been affecting my sleep schedule, my mental health, and my overall motivation. I shouldn't and won't go into any more detail than that because a lot of that is TMI, but I think more than a little bit of what has been going on in my personal life has been affecting the quality of my art, and that upsets me a great deal.

There are a few more reasons why I'm taking a small break from doing size art in a constant stream, but those are the two big factors that have been affecting me and my output, so I apologize if my art recently has been subpar. If you've read this far you more than likely want to know what this all means, and what I mean by taking a break.

I am not quitting art,  shutting down the Patreon, or nuking my gallery. All this means is that I'm putting the Patreon on hiatus for about a month, which means when May rolls around you won't be charged at the start of that month. This does mean that there won't be a monthly poll, and art production and uploads will be a lot slower than usual (yes, somehow it'll be slower than it already is, imagine that). I will probably post art stuff somewhat infrequently throughout this and next month, but they'll most likely be just sketches, practices, things of that nature.

As a final note I'd like to apologize to everyone who likes and enjoys my content, and I'd like to apologize extensively to anyone whose commissions I haven't gotten around to yet. I have been incredibly slow as is, and this news probably isn't going to make anyone happy. If you're one of the people who's in my commission queue and you don't want to wait any longer for me to get around to your drawing idea, just send me a message and let me know if you want to retract it. I won't take it personally and I will completely understand. That all said, thank you all for reading this, and I hope in the future I'll have a better mindset, better skill, and better artwork. Thank you all.

Love your stuff, but my experience as a writer who tends to end up hating just about all of his own work within a couple years of finishing it makes this seem kinda relatable. Take whatever time you need, and I'll be happy to carry right on with supporting your work when you're feeling ready to push forward with it again!

Many thanks for the understanding. I'm not going to discredit my are completely, but knowing that I can do better but somehow not being able to execute it is something I need to correct.

We totally understand. While I definitely don't think you are a bad artist by any means, I totally get wanting to better your craft and feel satisfied by what you make. And I hope your life situation improves as well
