That kiss wasnt supposed to happen. Ty Frank ( one of the writer of the book series ) said it was improvised on set I believe by the unit director and he would've absolutely stop it if he was on set. He hates it and I agree with him it was unnecessary. With this episode the first book is done, and the series takes a bit of a breather becasue they were pretty much full on throttle since the Donnager exploded. I love sci-fi so much, you can take the simplest story and place it into the wildest scenario you can imagine to make it epic and as high stakes as you wish. Many people writes down sci-fi especially space sci-fi but there are some really competently written Sci-Fi stories out there and The Expanse is definitely one of them.

I am having so much fun reliving my love of this show by watching you both experience it. Thank you for doing the Expanse.

Apparently the two actors were in a relationship at the time… says the internet.

Derek

Miller finally found someone/something to believe in and die for... Salute 🫡.

M. Gideon Hoyle

Yeah they really rushed book three so they could give it something of an ending because of the first cancellation.

Fred Ferraro

Such a great episode! Btw I think the nuke got deactivated when Miller put Julies hand on it infecting it with the protomolecule

Ailingsum

It's always made sense to me that Julie's consciousness was the dominant one on Eros. When Dresden discovers her body, he extracts Julie's protomolecule mixed with her blood and gives orders to prepare the injections that are then distributed to the entire station's population. So all the protomolecule samples come from her.

I forgot how incredible this whole episode is and how beautiful the scene with Miller and Julie is. Love Miller and how he handled such a delicate, dangerous and deeply weird situation with so much grace and bravery.

Yeah, it's just a term of endearment and an aspect of the film noire flavour of this sci-fi... A gruff male character calling a younger person 'kid' is basically a nod to movies of the 1930s and 40s. It doesn't mean he sees her as a child: nothing inappropriate!

DominaZeta

Last comment, I promise! This episode is the end of the first book in the series. The second book ends with season 3, episode 6. Book 3 ends with the end of season 3.

I heard somewhere that the kiss between Miller and Proto-Julie was a spontaneous thing the actress did that wasn't in the script. It fit so they kept it.

Pamela Hofman

I'm not sure Pudgy was giving Spartan the support he needed for his devastation at the end of Miller. Spartan, we feel you.

Pamela Hofman

"Kid" is a word used in America as an affectionate nickname, although not so much anymore. It used to be common. It can be to a friend or a romantic interest. It has nothing to do with pointing out that someone is or is not a youngster.
