Full Length Reaction Guide
We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync. Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. 2025-08-11 09:31:32 +0000 UTCI’ve watched this show with reactors an embarrassing number of times and while fans hype the big twists and space battles, the real magic is in the quiet moments—like Naomi telling Holden, “Every shitty thing we do makes the next one easier.” When Bobbie first lands on Earth, she sees Earthers as the enemy and calls them “takers” in her testimony. But walking through the slums and meeting Nico—an unexpected embodiment of that label—shakes her worldview. Credit to the casting team: even minor roles like Nico’s leave a mark and this is true throughout the series. The proto-molecule plotline is equally layered. Jules-Pierre Mao cares nothing for Earth or Mars—only the tech. In the season’s first episode, he mocks Errinwright: “You’re witnessing a discovery that could rewrite the story of humankind, but your imagination takes you only as far as putting the bootheel to your former colony.” What elevates The Expanse is its moral ambiguity. Too often, sci-fi paints in black and white, but here we live in the grey. As Dawes tells Holden: “Good and bad—don’t get distracted by that. Good men do bad things, like Fred Johnson. And bad men do things believing it’s for the good of all mankind.” (Season 2, episode 7).

2025-08-11 08:10:14 +0000 UTCLots to love in this episode. The best is probably what everyone else is saying: Bobbie seeing earth and the ocean for the first time. So beautiful. But what I also love is this episode is the start of her slowly realizing who the enemy truly is. I also love the moment Errinwright comes clean to Chrisjen. A very well written and acted scene from both actors. Oh and Chrisjen and her spy developing a great relationship too! This episode did give us a lot more insight into Amos and his backstory too. A lot of the things he talks about with Prax (and in earlier episodes with Cortazar and Holden), you probably wonder how he knows all that, right? The next episode is in my top ten favorite episodes of this entire show, and the rest of the season is just as amazing, but truly cannot wait to see y’all’s reaction!!!

He gives Bobbie a chance to see not only what real Earthers are going through but how they also are given misinformation about Martians. It is practically the first time you see Bobbie smile! The market under the UN reminds of actual markets seen in Malawi Africa when I was working there. Barter is a very common transactional way of surviving when you have limited means!

Knowing how Bobbie wants to fight Earthers so badly, she would have been enraged if it were Earther marines that attacked first. I was yelling at Bobbie, Gunny you need your sunglasses on your eyes are not adapted to sunlight as if I was there inside this fictional show. I am wondering if they were trying to create something from the protomolecule to help Mei, although she may be a test subject.

Bobbie looking at the ocean is one of my favorite scenes in the whole series... her subtle acting, the music, and the idea that having an ocean on Mars is the dream of an entire culture, whereas Earthers just take it for granted. Powerful stuff.
