Re “welwala” from The Expanse wiki: wel "gravity well" (English) + wala "person-of-the" (Hindi) Welwala = person of the [Gravity] well It’s used as a slur by Belters to describe someone, usually another Belter, who could be seen as caring more about Inners than Belters.

It started on the ground when the UN soldiers engaged the protomolecule humanoid and soon Bobby's team joined in but their comms were jammed so in orbit nobody had any idea whats going on and who initiated the fighting so they started shooting as well and that escalated into a skirmish. It wasn't done on orders, it was likely out of fear, high tension since the Eros incident and probably a lot of confusion. One person ( probably a ship captain or a gunnery officer ) started shooting and things escalated. Bobby hates that medal becasue she didnt earn it. It was given to her for the wrong reasons she really didnt do much to survive that fight and its just a reminder that she lost her team and failed as a leader even though it wasnt her fault. Bobby was fine when they landed on Earth becasue Martian marines train in a 1G environment in preparation for possible combat operations on Earth. Welwala means traitor to your people. That scene when Chrisjen puts that guy in his place is glorious. This show has many similar scenes and they feel so right. Many times we watcha movie and a TV show when a similar situation comes around and the actor is saying something completely unrealistic, detached or mild line that breaks the immersion. Those movies had lesser writers and a showrunner without balls. The characters in The Expanse are super-relatable because they behave like normal people. Their personalities ( therefore their motivations ) are believable their lines are on point, something we would say in a similar situation and this often really surprising but very satisfying. The writing ( story, character and dialogue ) is really good in this show, not surprised that people were comparing it to the early seasons of Game of Thrones.
