The Walking Dead 2x7 Reaction

Comments

The way y’all respond to the whole Lori/Rick/Shane triangle is an indication that you both must be pretty young, so I’ll give you some grace. lol What Lori was saying to Shane is that in this world, where there’s no proof of paternity, and she’s committed to her husband, the child is her husband’s. Period. Nothing else matters. Also, the way Shane keeps going on about how many times he saved her compared to Rick and y’all are just nodding along as if he’s making sense? 😂🤦🏾‍♀️ He sounds like a child keeping score in a video game. Shane is a complex character. He’s not all bad, but this world and the circumstance of Rick’s return have broken him. He’s done enough to this point where you should at least question if he’s the type of person you’d want to keep around longterm, because he’s clearly unhinged. Killing Otis was self-serving. First and foremost he wanted to save himself. And by saving Carl, he thinks he’ll be able to get Lori back. In his eyes he deserves her and Carl more than Rick because of “how many times he’s saved them.” He literally just told you that. They’re just a game he wants to win at this point. He sexually assaulted Lori. He held a gun to Rick. The fact that yall don’t see more negatives than positives yet is mind boggling. I don’t see how the writers could spell it out for you any clearer.

JRW

They are so blind when it comes to Shane. He is so reckless and they consider that "bad ass".

Vanessa Navarro

This episode was PEAKK man😭

Aria

If the pilot, Rick shoots a little girl holding onto a doll. Kinda makes me think when u first turn ur conciseness may hold onto a little bit from ur previous life, but once you’ve been zombiefied for so long u lose it. Like Sofia leaving her doll in the creek. Or she dropped it from running from walkers lol

Trevor80

Yes, finally some people who speak the truth. Shane was right! I love Shane. 🥰

It's easy to rant and rave and shoot... until it's someone you know. I suspect our reactors are probably averse to this term, but Shane is the very definition of toxic masculinity. In the end, when confronted with killing a walker that he knew (literally the thing he was unable to understand about the barn), Shane couldn't do what needed to be done. He froze like a little bitch. It was up to Rick to do it. Sure, volatile men who erratically wave their dicks around like Shane are entertaining to watch in a TV show. But they are no role model, even in an apocalypse. At the end of the day, you want responsible masculinity. Yeah, it's a lot more boring. But it's far stronger and more reliable. That's Rick. When the toxic clowns are done posturing, the real men step up and clean up their mess, with quiet dignity. The best thing about this episode is how it flipped the script to show us how understanable Hersh's position was. It's easy to kill the walkers, until it's one of yours. Best episode so far, and for my money, best episode of the series, actually.

Julien

That Rick can still act like a normal human shows that he is more built for this world than shane.

Lui

Completely agree

Lui

This is the first time I've ever rewatched this episode and I became a mom to a baby girl last year. Definitely packs an even bigger punch for me now.

Emily P

The fact that Rick is the one that killed Sophia in the end should tell you all you need to know about Shane. Shane "does what needs to be done"? Nah. He chooses the easiest options and paints over them with that mantra.

Demented Avenger

It’s the easy choice just to snap and kill and be angry. It’s the difficult choice to try and remain human in a world of monsters. Jon is an amazing actor, Shane is a complex character but ya’lol are giving him waaaay too much grace.

Cosmic Traveller

I love Shane in this episode, such a badass. Dude just snapped 😂

Kristy Ranic

Seems to me that Rick had to clean up Shane’s mess in the end. So much for Shane’s insistence that he’s the one who always makes the tough calls and does what needs to be done.

DominaZeta

At this moment, Shane is who he needs to be to survive in this world. Rick is who he is to save humanity despite this world. At the end of the day it was Rick who had to do the impossible tasks. It’s easy to flip a switch, it’s hard to remain human and still have to do the hardest things.

Gloria Contreras

Sorry guys, but i'm Team Rick and Dale! I like Shane but he's become unhinged!!!

Joe Lazarus

Great episode.

macc61

I still love Shane in this despite his shortcomings.

macc61

Its because of his likeability and badassness. The actor playing Shane is incredible. My fav in the entire series along with Rick.

macc61

I have to push back on the belief that Shane is making hard decisions. Firstly all the decisions are hard that doesn’t mean Shane should be as impulsive/insensitive as he’s been. Secondly, not all his decisions are correct or would’ve produced a good outcome. 1. He was going to leave everyone stuck in the mall when Rick found a way to get them out. 2. He didn’t scavenge for ammo or safe structure he had everyone’s asses hangin out at camp. Had Rick not returned with more guns more ppl would’ve died. He didn’t even create a perimeter w/the cars or debris or trees bc he was too busy fking Lori 😆 3. He didn’t hunt or fish or find a way to feed everyone. 4. He didn’t want to leave camp even after the zombie attack. Talkin bout let’s just hang up tin cans and stay here… like, huh? 5. He suggested Fort Benning 150 miles of walkers in a different direction w/little to no gas and food. CDC was closer. 6. He didn’t HAVE to shoot Otis. Should’ve wrapped his ankle and bolted to the truck. 7. The walkers in the barn weren’t that much of a threat - he didn’t have to do that so brutally. Rick was playing along for the time being - they might’ve been able to convince Hershel to do it. Shane thinks his way is the only way but it obviously isn’t.

Montae Williams

The Shane we knew before Otis, is Pretty Much Dead Already

Johnny_Raincloud

I understand the love for Shane but you guys really need to stop ignoring that he tried to rape Lori and held a gun on Rick fantasizing about murdering him. You can argue he made the right choice killing Otis but that was still a villain move regardless. Dale is right Shane is not a good guy. He’s got his moments but ultimately he only cares about himself Lori and Carl.

josh york

Thank you 🙏🏻 this comment was all i wanted to say. Shane says Rick isn’t bulit for this world but I think he absolutely is.

c-evinrude

We need the next episode asap

Shane has this idea in his head that he's the only one who understands how to survive in this world. But the only way to survive in this world for long is to rely on other people. Shane is not a team player (he doesn't care about the group, except for Lori and Carl). He wants to try on the role of a leader who rules by fear, but the problem is that no one is afraid of him. Dale, who is weaker than him, tells him to fuck off right to his face. No one recognizes his authority, not even Lori, the woman he stubbornly wants to impress. Andrea agrees with him because of her trauma, and Rick listens to him because of respect for their past friendship; that's it. Rick doesn't agree with Hershel, but he tries to compromise with him for the sake of the group and his pregnant wife. That's what a leader does. Shane releases a bunch of walkers at once to prove a point. What if someone didn't have time to react and got bitten? I wonder what Shane's plan is. Sacrificing everyone for Lori and Carl? What then? Surviving with a pregnant woman and a child? People always say that Shane adapted first. But acting like a mad man is not adaptation. Rick adapts. Rick found out that Lori and Shane slept together and took it calmly, because he understands the world they now live in. Rick put aside his personal feelings for the sake of the group. Shane still can’t accept that his friend’s wife never loved him romantically. He’s a smart man, but he still can’t accept that the only reason Lori slept with him was because she was trying to survive. A physically weak, lonely woman with a child in the apocalypse, it’s only natural that she would try to find protection in a man. And, most likely, afraid that Shane might sooner or later leave them, she offered him what she could: a sexual relationship.

Frank so them putting all the blame on Laurie when Shane told her that her husband was dead is fair ? I’m not justifying but I understand why she has to distance herself… Shane actions towards Rick is proof enough

Jarrica Hennigan

This episode stomps on your heart. Geez.

Micah Mann

Yeah disagree, why does she have that right exactly? She chose to fuck Shane.

SpXek

Like others have said this was the mid finale - after season 2 the seasons all have 16 episodes (10 has 24 because of Covid) so the plot generally thickens in episode 8.

Ludus Aurea

Shane is one my favorite characters, but he is a straight up POS. I mean that's why I like him and he's complex, but my god it's strange watching you guys justify his every move. Not a rail on you guys, but offering my opposing perspective. It'll be interesting to how you guys respond to the finale and beyond. Believe it or not, it hasn't even scratched the surface of its height and potential!!

Latte

The love for Shane you guys have is WILD 😭 (I’m conflicted with his character)

Tyson O'Connor

wdym Shane was right and was always a step ahead the group, the later seasons just proves Shanes points and methods plus I think his character is super intresting and complex, he wasn't a good guy but in that setting you can't be you want to survive.

Ricky Ståhl

This was the mid-season finale. We had to wait three months for episode 8 back in the day!

T.C.Bullock

Laurie has the right to tell Shane it would never be his baby cause Rick is her husband! I can’t stand Laurie but you 2 keep putting all the blame on her and making like Shane is some hero is beyond crazy to me 🤦🏽‍♀️

Jarrica Hennigan

After this episode, I was HOOKED!!

Debbie

I’m sorry but Shane is such a bad ah but he couldn’t shoot Sophie Rick had 2 so you guys are delusional.. Shane is a hot headed coward at the end of the day

Jarrica Hennigan

This episode was what fully hooked me back when I was watching this show for the first time, and it only gets better from here

Josh Ashford

The end of this episode still traumatizes me all these years later

Louis Melendez

Just a friendly reminder, Shane's a..... cold blooded.... killer. 😂
