Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.  Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

The Expanse 3x11 Uncut Reaction

Comments

I love the show's take on the events here, especially with regards to Ashford and Drummer (or Bull, in comparison).

SJ Lute

I think this was referred to already but the Martian soldiers ARE not only like Bobbie's previous team, they are like Bobbie was in the past when we met her. Gung ho for war against earth. Her growth as a character is incredible so far and she works so hard to continue to be loyal to Mars despite all the things that throw her in different directions. Excellent reaction as always!

Etta Eskridge

The writing and production really shine this episode. In ways many might not even notice. In particular, the parallel between Anna calling out Tilly’s name as she passes away and then cutting to Ashford singing the shanty “Tilli Go”. Both scenes being about confronting death, and both phonetically having the word/name Tilly/tilli… just wow, gets me every time. And I still haven’t seen anyone else pick up on this in all the reactions I’ve seen. But to be fair I’ve watched the majority of this show about 12 times.

Exactly, I would argue only the top scientists of humankind might have theories about where all this comes from. But the average Joe knows nothing about billion-year-old civilisations and only sees Holden at the centre of the shitshow. Add the typical detachment you have for the upper-society people/ celebrities and that looks pretty normal. The LT from the Martian team handled it well though, I would say. He did not overreact and only acted when forced by whatever threat crumbled out of that wall and got blown to pieces by the grenade. It did not turn out so well for him, but he was reasonable and even tried to integrate Bobby in the decision-making while at the same time using this to sway her for his read on the situation. That guy was like pretty much every Martian officer, quite excellent. The only exception that comes to mind was that fool who tried to sway Bobby on earth - but I'd argue he was already more politician than acting officer. And I get the Martians - even if they do not fault him for the Donnager and the new ownership of the Tachi - he and his Belter crew walked away from all of this and none of their comrades who all died there. However, this does not excuse the unprofessional behaviour of those Marine rookies - yet they are grunts - whatelse to expect from a hammer that is looking for a nail at everytime.

Joel Quinn

Right! He's a flawed human like so many others but he has a lot of wisdom to offer.

Paul

Ashford's lines this episode were so inspiring! Nothing beats an older, experienced and wise character like him talking about a vision for a better future for his people.

Florian

Love the scene between (Camina) Drummer and Ashford so much! Such amazing character development and storytelling. One of the things that makes season 3 so peak!!

AnastasiyaK

Drummer is such a badass character. Love Ashford too.

Ryan

Always great discussions from you two. Agree with your Melba take that her goals and ambitions are completely insignificant and stupid in the grand scheme of things and she just seems annoying at this point but I also think that was kind of the point of her character as well. Even with these grand events happening some people still won't be able to look beyond anything but their own petty grievances and what they want themselves (similar to the martian soldiers who just want revenge for their LT). They can't all be Ashford/Drummer. We just gotta hope the right ones are in charge of making the decisions when it comes to it.

Alex and Amos wouldn't have been hit as tremendously because they were slowing down, following Holden's plan for them to slow, keeping them from running into the bubble's edge and letting the Martians take custody of the Roci. Still would have hurt, but not lethal like on the other ships

Amber A

Fun fact, this is the only feature length piece of media to be filmed entirely in "zero g".

Beat Conductor

The scene at the start, with Naomi in her scuttle, that was just fire spreading. In Zero-G, fire looks spherical, very peculiar looking. I forgot how Holden looked so terrified at the end there, damn. With the music...

Paul

She was mentioned several times in passing in S2 by Enrinwright, but with no significance attached.

Lindsay Mathieson

Great reaction. Interesting comment by Holden about seeing the end of everything. I agree with you Spartan, I do feel like Clarissa Mao was introduced a little too late. I mean it would be more shocking to never have seen her before and then she rocks up bent on revenge and with daddy issues. It is a bit cringe. I love how Anna followed her to the Roci.

Lyn Hurst

damn we will have to read the books after!

CpaSpartan Pudgey

Amos had like 4 lines and each one was just perfect!

Bill B.

Awesome reaction! Like you, so love the interactions between Drummer and Ashford, they play of each other beautifully. Glad you could appreciate the sadness of Tilly's death too, she was not a big player, just a rich socialite, but still a good person. And god damn, you sure make it hard to avoid spoilers, some of your speculations involve stuff in books 7-9, after the TV series ends! How'd you get so good at this? Re Melba - yeah, you're not wrong :)

Lindsay Mathieson

Would love to know the time taken for that, if it was say 1 second - 500G deceleration, which is unsurvivable.

Lindsay Mathieson

Camina Drummer! The Drummer/Ashford scenes are so fantastic. Such great characters and actors.

Sheri

One thing that's important to keep in mind with the Galaxy's perception of Holden is that a lot of people still think of him as a Belter Outlaw Hero from Earth, ever since the 'Remember the Cant' days. Most of the Galaxy believes that Holden ultimately sides with Belters. Even Avasarala made a joke about that the first time she saw him in person. So the fact that the fake video has Holden saying that Belters are the rightful owners of the Ring, plays right into that perception and makes it easy to believe. Many Martians still think of Holden as "the taker", since he basically stole the Rocinante/ Tachi. Holden. Most Earthers and Martians don't really know that much about who he really is. They know that Holden is one of the heroes of Eros and that he helped divert the Hybrid pods (which was of course done through Fred Johnson), but they don't know the details or why he acts as he does.

Varun Laks

Love the creepy (but fitting) ending credit music to this episode!

Shawn Anomaly

The previous speed limit was about 18k KPH. It dropped to about 100 KPH. The ship is called the Behemoth now. The Nauvoo was its old Mormon name. Yes Drummer's first name is Camina.

Golladan

RIP Tilly. That LT threw a grenade, so the station changed the speed limit to the speed of the throw.

Golladan

Plot thickens!
