Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.  Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

We hope you enjoy the video!

The parallel of Naomi setting foot on a planet for the first time and Bobbie seeing the ocean for the first time is just so well done. Both are acts that we (both fictionally and literally) take for granted. But the emotional weight of such events were handled with such care by the show. And shout out to Clinton Shorter's brilliant, brilliant score for giving those scenes the emotional punch that you'd normally see in an Oscar nominated blockbuster movie. 👏👏👏👏👏

I can't even with this intro! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You guys are so goddamn hysterical I can't even stand it. 🤣🤣 DYING of laughter! 🤣🤣

The comm relays are important but likely missed by most reactors. The interference in the rings means the relays have to span the ring to pick up broadcast signals between the ring space and the new solar systems. You actually see the comm relay as the Roci is going through the ring into the Ilus/New Terra system. This is the point were "proto Miller" says bye bye to Holden and zips off to the planet they are headed for. Pudgey is correct in that we see Holden briefly from Miller's new POV.

An Aussie desert!

Lindsay Mathieson

The intro had me rolling, you two are a trip!

Shawn Anomaly

This intro has me dying 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Get ready to change up your love, like, hate list. Mao is a nice guy compared to what is coming.

Shannon Baron

As we watch this season, lets remember the horror that crash was and how many people died.

As others have said, much less changed from Season 3 to Season 4 than you would think. The personnel making the show -- cast, crew, writers, directors, showrunner -- most of them stayed the same. The show has always been owned by Alcon Entertainment, SyFy only had a distribution deal, and now Amazon has that. The budget, according to multiple sources, was about the same. I'm sure there were minor differences around the edges, but for the most part, same team, same money, same resources. The improvement in the technical quality of the show, according to the production team, was mostly just natural evolution; because it's mostly the same team that's been working on this show since the beginning, they've just gotten really good at making it. They've learned what works and what doesn't, and over time they've figured out better ways to do almost everything they do. Good on Spartan for noticing the aspect ratio change so quickly. Most people don't for a while (I confess I myself didn't notice until well into the season). But the decision was made exactly as Spartan theorized, to draw a stark difference between the wide open spaces of Ilus/New Terra and the claustrophobic confines of the space ships and stations where our characters spend most of their time. Long time Director of Photography Jeremy Benning, who has been responsible for the unique look of this show since the beginning, came up with the idea and advocated for it. It's not the first time anyone's ever changed aspect ratios to suggest a change in dimensions of the environment, but I think it's one of the first times the effect has been put to such frequent and consistent use on a TV show. It's a really cool little touch. Anyway, welcome to Season 4. It'll be interesting to see what you guys think.

Sense the ring station no longer considered humanity a threat the speed limit has been lifted so traveling through the ring space can be done at any speed. The only need to slow down would to make sure you don't miss your target ring or collide with other traffic.

Cody Taylor

I wonder if the production team gained access to new/greater resources through Amazon.

Joan Monroe

LMAO at the banter in the beginning. Stay tuned to see if Pudgey still has her job. Very cool new cinematography and CGI. It appears Amazon had a good budget to zhush it up a bit. I was thinking how it does feel more natural when you are watching a show while it is being released each season and them putting a gap in time in the show itself wouldn't feel as off as watching seasons back to back.

Lyn Hurst

Believe it or not, Ty (book author and show writer/producer) has said they didn't get any budget bump when Amazon took over.

deific

The reason Amos called Clarissa Peaches is because her fake name from last season was Melba. Peach Melba is a desert. Amos is always very creative with his nicknames.

Jeff M

What a great start to a new season. The cinematography was amazing this episode! There is an array of ways they can go with this season and im just pumped!

Alex Walker

In the books Avasarala swears like a sailor, dropping F bombs right and left. Now that the show's on Amazon, she's free to be truer to the book character, and I love it!

Sheri

I think Medina Station (formerly The Behemoth) looks even more beautiful with the new graphics budget, and I love that beautiful, slow track of the camera down the Roci as our crew is disembarking on Illus.

Joan Monroe

Love that moment! Her first steps on a planet 🥺

Mo

Yep drummer said those belters would be inners in two generations because they are now on a planet. Also interesting fact, Amos called Clarissa peaches because there’s something called a peach Melba 😂

Mo

Peaches, and Ashford are my favorite characters of the series. Visually it’s a step up during season four just wait till you get to season five with the attention to detail. I feel like this show is finding itself again during season four. Don’t get me wrong season four is really good but season five and six especially five are on a complete different level. Amos and Carissa. “ Peaches” in the book bonded on the way for her to go to prison.

michael j hill

Great start to a mysterious S4! The cinematography especially is upgraded to masterful levels. My favorite moment in this first episode is the subtle interaction of Holden holding back Amos from helping Naomi, she's got this. Their relationship is so pure.

Paul

Belters have lived in 0 G or very little G for generations, with little resources. So they have grown differently from the humans on Earth and Mars. Both physically and psychologically. The show doesn't show the physical aspect as much for obvious reason, but one is supposed to be able to tell a Belter and an Inner apart just by looking at them. Camina's point about the Belters going to the ring worlds being Inners in a couple of generations is because they will no longer grow up in the conditions that Belters grow in.

Golladan

here we go season 4! A change of pace from season 3 but I love this season

Mo

I like how the crew on the Roci had a chat with their friends as they were traveling to Ilus. Amos with Clarissa when they were on Earth. Alex with Bobby while they passed Mars. And Naomi with Drummer as they passed Medina Station.

Golladan

The speed limit inside the Ring was lifted at the end of last season.

Golladan

How about this change up eh... And one of my hate list chars appears ... not hard to guess who it is ... Number 2 on the list. Number 1 will follow later.

Hans Engelen

New season! New opening! This season sees pretty much an entire overhaul of the opening. Also for the first half of the season a few episodes will have a small change in the opening that you might miss if not looking for it. Without further ado, here are the noticeable changes: -In the ISS Flyover of Europe, we see a ship leaving Earth. -The clip of the Petermann Glacier, Greenland has been updated. More ice melts, and greenery can be seen growing over the land. -The clip of Manhattan traffic has been replaced with one of the nuke that hit South America last season. -The New York City skyline has been updated, and there are many ships seen flying over now. -On Mars, we can now see city lights all over the night side of the planet. From here on out we get entirely new clips: -We are treated with a new clip of Mariner Valley, and many ships leaving Mars. -We then zoom into a Mars Habitat, were we can see a lot more ships leaving Mars for the new worlds. -A view of Saturn's rings and some of Saturn's moons, with many colony ships seen heading towards the Ring Gate. -A clip of the Sol gate, with multiple ships approaching it. Two of these ships are labeled. The Edward Israel (which we see this episode at Ilus) and the Sojourner. -A clip of traffic within the Ring Space, quickly followed by the Ring Space itself. We can also see the OPAS Behemoth, now called Medina Station. -Holden floating outside a ring. One of the Comm Relays is also labeled. -And a view of the Ilus system, before the show's tile comes up.

Golladan

Haven't watched the reaction yet but your banter at the start is hysterical. Pudgey, fired in the bin! Lmao.

Paul

Three there’s just too many characters for only two
