I know I’m late to the party here but one thing I wanted to point out is that end scene cost them $6,500. It wasn’t a prop car or anything, instead belonging to someone off set. The melon ended up doing $6,5000 worth of damage. They chose it to be Stanley’s car because of the significance of the watermelon, and the fact he could potentially view it as a hate crime.

If you’ve never seen it, please do yourself a favor and YouTube his standup special “Elephant in the Room.” It is one of the greatest stand up specials of all time. Sadly, Patrice passed away in 2011 from complications due to Diabetes.
