2026-01-31 19:11:29 +0000 UTCAs for Ron's injury, it's likely that you'd give a first-time shooter -- especially someone as slight as Tom -- a 20-gauge shotgun due to the lighter recoil. That is going to produce smaller pellets from the shells, a wider spread, and a significant decrease in velocity (and lethality) past 30-40 yards or so. Ron's wearing a hat earlier, and he has a thick mane of hair. All of which would've made him a lucky survivor of being shot on a hunting trip, much like (as Chris mentions) former VP Dick Cheney's friend. Also: no one ever, ever, should test the validity of this hypothesis. Just sayin'!

2026-01-31 19:06:09 +0000 UTCImpossible to watch this episode and not think of former Vice President Dick Cheney infamously (accidentally) shooting his friend in the face on a hunting trip... only for that friend to then apologize to HIM. Occurred 2-3 years before this episode aired. Without getting into politics, it was a very on-brand incident.
