The short engagement scene in this episode was the most expensive scene shot for the show, because they built the gas station set in a parking lot in LA — based off on an actual gas station in Connecticut (the “halfway point.”) They hired pro drivers to make it look like it was filmed from across a busy highway, (- drivers had to be able to drive by very fast in the limited space of a parking lot.) They also had to hire rain machines, and they used CGI to change the California mountains in the background to look like the east coast of the US (which is flatter.) They even added CGI geographically correct trees!⛽️ They estimate that the short proposal scene alone cost approximately $250,000. Jenna Fischer (Pam) and Angela Kinsey (Angela) are actually best friends and have a podcast that deep dives each episode. The podcast is called “Office Ladies.” 🤓
