And I will say again, I think I've mentioned this in other reactions, if you enjoy this, check out The War by Ken Burns. It's a miniseries type documentary, not fictionalized, about WWII. He also did one called The Civil War about the American Civil War. I cannot recommend his stuff highly enough. Extremely educational and very entertaining.

2025-05-31 18:55:14 +0000 UTCAs far as I know, the rule with medics in a wartime situation is, they are NOT supposed to be shot at when they are tending to wounded during a battle, the only exception to that rule is, as you noticed, if the medic pulls a weapon and starts firing, he becomes like any other individual on the battlefield and is fair game for the enemy to target. There is an incredible story of a medic in WWII who refused to carry a weapon. The film Hacksaw Ridge is based on his story I believe. His name eludes me at the moment, I'm sure someone else will remember.
