There's a fair bit of dramatic licence being used with that 50m figure. At least half of it was for the Kop development and other infrastructure which was going to happen either way (at some point). As for the turnover it's increased from about 2m pre takeover to about 26m during the league 2 season. Pretty crazy.

There were some very interesting storylines this season: injuries plagued the team, there was about a month stretch of poor performance, new players came in during the January transfer window that caused some drama as fans had to grapple with longtime favorites being benched, and then there was a continual battle to try to get back into the automatic promotion spot and avoid the playoffs.
