The girl you recognize (Carla) from the Youth Ministry is the same girl from Modern Family. She interviewed Mitch and Cam as potential adoptive parents to her baby. She rearranged their furniture and they sang for her.

Also, the people were all shaking each other's hands because its a ritual that people do in some churches. Michael loved the energy and he just got so spun up.
