Really neat fun fact—Maisie (the actress that plays Arya) is right-handed, but Arya is left-handed in the books, so she trained and performed with the left for accuracy. Maisie literally taught herself to fight ambidextrously to stay true to canon at 12 years old. So cool!

2025-08-07 08:19:14 +0000 UTCPeople claiming they saw the White Walkers in this story would be sort of like somebody coming up and telling you they swear they saw the Loch Ness Monster. You've certainly heard of Nessie, but you would more than likely pay the person no mind and assume they're a bit crazy. That is how the vast majority of the population (in particular the southern population) views the White Walkers. They're little more than myth and not a real threat at all. This is why Tyrion and Jaime have been making snide comments about the Night's Watch through the first few episodes. Although now that Tyrion has seen the Wall first hand it is clear he has at least gained a newfound respect for the men at the Wall even if he doesn't buy into White Walker talk.

2025-07-20 21:06:23 +0000 UTCA couple of notes that maybe the show didn't telegraph quite as well as it could have: "Lord Snow," the title of the episode, is meant as a mockery to Jon. Because Snow is a bastard name for those born to northern nobles, there can literally be no "Lord" Snow. By law, bastard-born children cannot inherit. Also, since Jon is a bit of a bully who thinks he's better than his new Night's Watch "brothers," it's fitting as an insult to someone they consider a touch haughty and privileged. Also, "Kingslayer," the name they call Jaime Lannister is meant to shame him because he was on Aerys Targaryen's Kingsguard before he was on Robert's. He was literally sworn to defend with his life the king he ended up murdering 17 years ago. (They called Aerys II The Mad King. He was Dany and Viscerys' father). But because the new king was the old king's enemy...And Robert needed the Lannister army in order to help secure his successful rebellion, Jaime was allowed to keep his position as one of the seven sworn Kingsguard knights. Jaime and Barristan Selmy, the other, older, knight seen in that moment are the only two surviving Kingsguard members who served both the old king and the new.
