You guys are absolutely correct about the heaviness of this episode and the series in general. No spoilers but the heaviness isn't over. Great reaction as always. During WWII a marine company had a command or headquarters unit and usually three rifle platoons, and a weapons platoon. Sledge and SNAFU are part of the weapons platoon.

2025-08-09 00:28:09 +0000 UTCThis episode sticks with you. It's the one I always think of first when I think of this series. 115F is 46C. I've been in heat like that for minutes at a time and it's hard to even breathe. Imagine that in 100% humidity, with heavy pants, long sleeves and boots on, lugging +50lbs worth of gear, with no shade, and no water, and surrounded by concrete that is probably 20 degrees hotter. And that's the easy part compared to seeing everyone you've spent every minute of the last two years with getting blown up around you. The US military rebuilt the runway at this base just last year and called it Sledge Runway.
