Regarding the Pam story, I would say that she needed Jim to say yes, the temp is attractive (let's be real here) but that he's there for Pam and reassure her that she'll feel better when she gets the post-baby body back. Since Jim didn't give her that, Dwight's blunt honesty gave her the counter-balance she needed to everyone else's well-intended but over-the-top falseness. I love it that they gave Pam a story like this when she was so heavily pregnant without making her crazy or over-emotional. Fun episode!
