Like some others I never knew this existed. So much better that the production recaps and explanations at the end of each episode on HBO. Knowing the spoilers and the ending this adds so much context and I'm in awe how things mentioned in passing will come back to be so important.

2025-09-18 00:05:55 +0000 UTCMark Addy has such an amazing voice! He's the perfect Robert in every way but height. Mark is short but Robert in the books is close to seven feet tall. It was more than Orys Baratheon linking the two houses. They don't mention it in the show but Robert, Stannis, and Renly are actually second cousins to the Targaryens. Their grandmother was Princess Rhaelle Targaryen. So, it's funny that Robert calls them "dragon spawn" and says their blood is cursed because it's his blood too. But yes, supposedly Orys was a bastard Targaryen. No idea how he got the last name "Baratheon". It's not a Westeros-traditional last name for a bastard. Maybe it's Valyrian?
