Kelly ( Mindy Kaling ) left to work on her own sitcom. Ryan ( BJ Novak ) said with Michael and Kelly gone it just felt like time as he was burnt out after 8 seasons. He was offered to be the new showrunner for The Office and he turned it down and ended up as an Executive Producer on the Mindy Kaling Project.
