Full Watch Along Reaction to Dragon Ball Episode 32
Woo! We officially got some sing-a-long! Let's gooooo!
"Ginger Wolverine." That's... *Imagines Silver with mutton chops* Damnit, it fits.
"He saw it...he was in it." Now I'm thinking of Rat Race. "What a beautiful room! Have you seen this room?" "Yes...we're IN IT!"
"Instead of saying Boom, it should've said Tank." "Or jet." Nah, Tank would've been funnier. 3 whole seconds of smoke saying Tank, only for a jet to appear.
"Up, go above the clouds." Neo? Is that you?
That radio voice is obviously Sabat. Now that you're watching FMAB, I wonder if you also hear Armstrong.
"Comb the desert." Was that a Spaceballs reference, Ken?
"He's doing an impressively long pee." Could give Jimmy Dougan a run for his money.
...do you think Mai's neck hurts, having to spend most of her time looking down to her boss and coworker?
lol. "I won't die because of something like this! I'm immortal!" Pilaf out here thinking he's Garlic Jr.
"Krillin takes the mantle of Goku." Can he eat that much?
Awww! I've been looking at my tv most of this time. I just noticed cuddly Bucky. Was he there the whole episode?
"Kinda sad we don't see that get retained into her later years." Yeah, Toriyama admitted this a lot; he's neither good or confident at writing women, so most of them ended up settling into the background once their arc is "over."
"The daughter that never ages and grows up." What? Just because Marron still looks 3 in Super, when she's supposed to be 9? Credit to GT, they show her looking her correct age...even if they gave her a nose.

Love the idea of Chi-Chi getting her dream come true! I think the stereotypical part is when it feels like she's nagging Goku or wants him to get a job and make money. Not saying she may not be justified in her desires but just felt like the way they chose to present it was a housewife stereotype. She definitely has always come across as a strong mama bear and so seeing her youth and fighting abilities is very fun as it is another side of her.

Felt like it was everywhere in entertainment when we were young and that quicksand was really something to worry about. Haven't encountered it once though and happy to hear it's not as scary as it sounds.

Honestly felt like a G.I. Joe episode, still good though. After watching Daima I can see Gomah and Pilaf being best friends ngl

I always thought kid chichi was super adorable and sweet, ob how things change π the real question is whether Goku thinking wedding is food will bite him in the assβ¦..

You're not alone there are TONS of fans that thought they turned Goku into Peter Griffin in Super. He was never that brainless. That's why if i hear someone say Goku is a doofus i'm like "yeeea but which Goku?" Even Akira Toriyama was not fully happy with how they wrote Goku in Super. That being said anything goes in OG tho because he's just a chunky little baby here. He doesn't know anything at all.

i love how this whole episode is basically just pilaf vs the red ribbon army. i love when shows do stuff like that, villain vs bigger villain. i also like how goku easily breaks through the walls in pilaf's fortress because in the early episodes, goku could barely make a hole in the fortress with a kamehameha and then now in this episode he's breaking through the walls like it's nothing. it's a cool way to show another way how much stronger goku has gotten after roshi's training but at the same time he has so much further to go. also, i wanna make a comment on goku being a doofus and stupid. it's not that he's dumb, he's just ignorant of the world and naive because of his history of being raised in the wilderness. we even saw earlier roshi not only physically trained goku and krillin but mentally as well. so goku has a basic education from roshi. I think in dragonball super goku is extra dumb and that's one of the reasons I personally don't like super very much but that's to each their own.

Glad we get to see some more badass Chi-Chi in dragon ball! Although, I don't really think she "fell" into the stereotypical housewife role, it's kind of what she wanted from the very beginning. She's strong as hell but she just wants to take care of a loving family and she got exactly what she wanted (except she wishes Goku was around more lol).

of course they weren't going to get married on a filler episode π€£. If things seems off in this stretch of episodes now you know why. Toriyama had little to no involvement in these.

25:55 You bringing this up makes me think of a hilarious moment in DBGT. I won't say too much about the context as to why, but thereβs a scene where Chi Chi slaps Goten (who is grown up) so hard that it sends him sliding back across the kitchen counter π. Asian parent strength has no bounds, take it from me lmao.

The puling of the one eyelid down while sticking the tongue out is a common facial gesture in Japanese media known as "akanbe". It can be used to express sarcasm, but it's most often used to taunt people.

15:12 Just looked it up, and it seems that quicksand really ain't as dangerous as pop culture makes it out to be. It's denser than the human body, so the likelihood of someone getting completely submerged is pretty much nonexistent.

I guess ill be the one to point out that the tongue out pulling eye lid down is a trope in cartoons(maybe just anime) to basically symbolize immaturity or to translate to what kids do as βNa Na a boo boo you cant catch meβ and sticking tongue out. Its just more in japan maybe?
