They aren't really lying and more so only showing one side of her character I don't think any of the hoyo trailers really ever misrepresent a character and more so only give us a taste/one side of what's to come in game. If anything the Yidhari teaser hints at her being somewhat of a loner given how she get misunderstood during the entirety of its run time as a monster but we see her just doing normal things we just didn't have the context of the main story yet to put 2 and 2 together. Like yes the trailers are there to sell the character but I'd never go so far as to say they ever lie/misrepresent about what we get in game. Of course I can only speak for the Hoyo games don't know about other gacha.

Zenless Zone Zero just released that octopus lady with the hammer and there’s something I noticed. With the videos that are supposed to “sell” her to the audience by using sexual shots and alluring scenes. Heck she even dresses like someone that should be confident or looks like they would flirt with others. Even her gameplay feels very confident with the suggestive movements. When you actually get to her in the story, she’s nothing at all like what the videos show. She’s very timid, vulnerable, and traumatized and has had no sexual implications whether verbally or visually. I had no expectations since small videos aren’t really enough to showcase a character in full, and I still like her, but she doesn’t really seem memorable to me. Some Gacha games have had this kind of problem where a character they show in their promotional material is nothing like that in the final product. If you two were actually playing Gacha games, would you have some reservations with that type of marketing?
