Quick poll. STL collabs - yay or nay?
Added 2023-01-24 16:51:57 +0000 UTCRight guys, So I thought I'd throw up a quick poll to judge interest, as it's quite hard to tell from post likes/views alone!
TL;DR: Do you like the collab STLs* or not? Images of examples below!
*Collab STLs are the minis by other creators, this isn't a poll on the RP Archive STLs, those are highly requested and will continue :)

Long version:
So recently I've been trial running a program whereby STL creators I like can work with us in our little community. They provide a free small STL pack of their wonderful work each month for you guys (long covid not withstanding), and in return I link their patreon/myminifactory, both in the collab post here on patreon and more importantly in the equipment list and under any video where I feature their minis.
I set this up to try and get you guys some extra rewards out of the marketing value of the channel. I never have trouble filling sponsor slots as I release 'when it's ready', but the value of the traffic on the equipment list alone, let alone having a creators mini's linked directly beneath a video where they feature in an awesome scene is not nothing, and I'd rather not waste it.
I thought I'd try this rather than some kind of 'lesser sponsorship' where creators pay a small amount to have the links on any video where I feature them, partially because its less complicated but mainly because I wanted to add value for you guys, not just crank out a bit more channel funding.
BUT I'm finding it impossible to tell whether you guys appreciate the additional minis you're gaining access to, or if you're indifferent, or if you actually outright dislike it (either because it feels spammy, or because you'd rather all my time be focused on my own work rather than these extras - though in the longer run I'd like to have someone run this section of channel admin for me, funding permitting.)

Hence this poll. I'm gonna leave it open a month, hopefully thats enough time to reach enough of you guys to get a good impression of your opinions. If enough people say it's a net negative, I'll stop running it. Otherwise, it'll be good to know everyone's opinion so I can stop worrying about it 😅
For the curious, the admin involved isn't too bad, but isn't nothing - I need to communicate with creators each month by email to decide on a mini to share, download and re-upload said mini to my Onedrive/Myminifactory, and make the post including images and links - per creator. Obviously with only a few this isn't bad, but can escalate - though so do the rewards for you guys...

I would like to add to what some people above had said. My favorite STL's that have come from here have been the ones that enhance the hand made tiles, like the jibblets and stuff. There are tons of creators that do figures and large terrain pieces, but I am sure that most of them feel the small pieces are "boring", and under estimate the value they give to flavor. More of those please - lol. Having said that, any STL is good. You can never have too many in a personal library, because you never know when you might need them in the future.

The collabs I'm not so sure. I might start doing them more ad-hoc, or try and figure out a less admin intensive method. Definitely food for thought.

The best STL's you've shared have been the doors / windows / cages that integrate with your work. NPC's are still cool, but scatter that matches the vibe of your crafting is what I love the most
