2024-03-14 20:39:43 +0000 UTCSomething that may or may not be important in the future is that in the novel Wilhelm, even after the battle, thinks that there was no way his wife was defeated by the White Whale so there is a possibility that there was something or someone at that moment as well.

2024-03-14 02:34:19 +0000 UTCUnfortunately, no, Wilhelm never told Theresia he loved her while she lived. He showed her in other ways, but never said the words. After the fight with the whale was the first time Wilhelm has ever "I love you" to his wife. There is a brief Rem/Subaru scene in the novels that doesn't make it into the anime after the White Whale battle. Rem is exhausted from using up her mana and is falling asleep. Subaru is holding her thinking that she is dying again like in previous loops. Rem realizes this and instead of correcting him, she instead tells him she wants to hear how he really feels about her before she fades away (passes out). Subaru tells her not to fade away (die) and proceeds to tell her how much he really likes her and that she is the second important person to find a place in his heart (hence his comment to Crusch about already having two people in his heart). At which point, she sits up and says he can't take it back. Subaru is so relieved she isn't dying that he doesn't even care that she basically tricked him into confessing his feelings for her. Then Ferris comes over and calls Subaru an idiot for thinking Rem was dying since Ferris is the kingdom's greatest healer and would never allow Rem, who contributed greatly to the battle, to die. The fact that he was nearby and ignoring them, should have told Subaru that Rem wasn't in a life threatening situation.
