86: EIGHTY SIX EP 8
Added 2024-04-20 11:00:10 +0000 UTCman Shin's life is so painful, the fact that his brother said those things to him and literally almost murdered him in a fit of pure rage and madness is so dark and painful to watch and see. His pain is so palpable that is impossible to ignore. Also, the fact that the 86's are just on their way to battle knowing its the last, theyre essentially just going to their funeral with a smile on their faces. Truly, they are the true angels. It's just painful to watch them suffer this way.
Anette also going full mask off is so telling- she is trying to avoid the immense guilt of what she did as a child by saying she's powerless. To admit power in the situation is to admit wrong doing and I don't think she'll be able to live with that, so she has to convince herself of this to survive... that's not an excuse for her behaviour but more so to understand it. It's still fucking disgusting and I hate her :D

Am I the only one thinking that Shin was the boy Anette was talking about? At least it kinda seemed like it was hinting a bit about that to me. I haven't seen the show and getting a first time experience here so don't let me know if I'm wrong.

2024-04-21 12:09:34 +0000 UTCAs a hint about the changes in the OP, let me tell you at what part they are: the changes are within the last 10 seconds of the OP. Compare it with the 1st one, and it will be blatantly obvious. I myself never noticed it before watching a video about the symbolism in the anime.

2024-04-20 20:27:57 +0000 UTCIf you were to watch the opening from episode 1 to episode 8, when that red spider lily field scene shows you’ll see the difference. That Annette scene also gives the reason as to why she never gets suitors her age. It’s because she used to be friends with an 86 and those around her age knew about it. And what Shin meant when he told her survive until then is that eventually the 86 will all die or the Legion will eventually break through, so if she somehow survives past that point, maybe there’ll be a chance of help coming from the neighbouring countries. In Rei’s case, there’s a reason as to why he snapped the way he did but it’s better explained in the LN. Basically the Republic had a rule that depending on the amount of children an 86 had, both parents may have had to go. So in their case, their mom also went and she ended up dying so if Shin didn’t exist then she wouldn’t have had to go but obviously that rule was bullshit but being calm and logical was out the window before then.
