Only afterwards when they offered her a multiple novel contract to continue the story did the story evolve into the 14 books it encompasses today. Thats why those first 11 episodes feel like such a "complete" story for lack of a better word, because they were at some point.

I love it but I don't know if i've ever felt this distressed watching a show. Despite all the pain it truly is a masterpiece. The looming feeling of no one is safe in every episode makes all the minor things so much more special. To go from the school scene of them pretending to be in class to the end is just heartbreaking storytelling
