86: EIGHTY SIX EP 14
Added 2024-05-10 13:00:08 +0000 UTCfuck. That really broke me. This show keeps proving that it can in fact become more devastating, It keeps fucking with me truly. Poor Eugene, that scene was literally brutal. It also feels like Shin and Fredrica are from the same bloodline, tied to the curse of the legion. Almost like being punished for the sins of their ancestors.

2024-05-22 19:04:18 +0000 UTCI think theyre genuinely moved by the memorial, but they, like most stoic military types, dont really show emotions on their faces, especially 'mushy' emotions, they are battle hardened veterans afterall.

2024-05-12 08:11:33 +0000 UTCI'd try and see it from the perspective of the regular soldiers. Here you have essentially child soldiers, who seem to love fighting and death, and who are very unreliable, always off doing their own thing rather than following established doctrine. That's bound to create some dissent and friction amongst the ranks, can you really trust this kids to have your back in a life and death situation? Especially unusual a Lieutenant (meant to be in command of 1 squadron) is now in command of a battalion formation (meant for a Major) because all his seniors died in combat very fast . (Major and first year LT are about 10 years apart in seniority) No one wants loose cannons in a warzone where one mistake means your death, so I can definitely sympathize with rank and file not being too comfortable around 16 year olds who seem to revel in war (They don't, but thats how it would seem to regular soldiers) Most of whom are drafted or joined to protect their homeland and don't agree with the morality of even having people under the age of 18 fighting at all. The Eighty Six would seem like crazy war mad psychopaths' from their PoV (Military people don't really interact outside of their individual chain of commands on operations, so you'd only hear hearsay about them)

2024-05-11 15:38:15 +0000 UTCWar stories hit your empathy trigger hard, yes? I see you. Blue is commonly represented in two ways in anime: coldness, and hope. You'll have to find that answer along the journey imo

2024-05-11 09:23:59 +0000 UTCNon spoiler explanation using only anime information, Pre Episode 14, so far: The Legion was made by the nobles of the Empire of Giad (Fredirica was a baby empress, so ruler in name only). The Legion was then unleashed on all neighbouring countries in a war of conquest by the Empire of Giad. The Legion were pretty genocidal, being machines, killing everything. One country that was attacked, the Republic, instituted the 86 system after its own armies were wiped out in a few large scale battles with the Legion. After a while, a lot of people in the Empire of Giad were upset with this war of aggression and lead a revolution (Ernst being a General in the former Empire, was a leader of the rebellion.) They defeated the Loyalist Empire forces in a civil war, and created the Federacy of Giad. (Ernst, as a major leader of the revolution, was made the first President). The Legion, now without masters (the Empire) to give them orders, just follow the last orders they were issued (Wipe out all enemies of the Empire, this includes the rebels, aka, the Federacy) Thus the Legion continue to fight everyone and everything, robots fighting for the sake of masters who are long since dead.

2024-05-10 14:24:56 +0000 UTCI don't think she sees the future. Only past & present.

2024-05-10 14:24:19 +0000 UTCFrederica can’t see the future, only the present and past of a person (present meaning she can just see what’s currently going on around them)

2024-05-10 14:24:12 +0000 UTCI wanna note how the name reaper is a name that’s always put on Shin, never something he ever calls himself. Another note, their faces are blank, if not displeased with the memorial created for the comrades, as if they were saying “this isn’t OUR final destination, you chose to settle them here instead of letting us carry them like we promised”. At least that’s how I interpret their expressions
