Whatever it is, it feels like its going to be immensely dark, and this guy is the like the light amidst all the darkness. I'm so glad he's approaching her carefully and slowly because it feels like she's been hurt by people and the world so I'm happy he's being kind. Also that teddy bear WAS SO CUTE.

A sharpening stone like she wants is 1) risky as someone else said but also 2) not all that cheap. Real basic ones can be, but going finer grit is getting into more specialty ones and that gets pricey for a high school kid.
