Also Echidna might not be the kind witch we thought she was. It seems that Satella actually just wants subaru to learn to love himself, but why do all the witches love him the way they do? Why do they care for him the way they do? Why do they help him? Also why did Subaru lose his ability to enter the sanctuary and undergo the trials? Does Echidna want him to desperately come back asking for a contract with her? ALSO what the fuck is roswaal trying to achieve because this man has me fucking confused.

2024-05-28 15:37:25 +0000 UTCFrom what I can understand, Satella gave him the Return by Death power with a very simple objective: So that he wouldn't die, and would always be able to find a way to live. Makes sense, right? To ensure the person she loved wouldn't meet with a brutal end in this cruel world, she gave him the one ability that would let him overcome his death, no matter how many tries it took. Imagine her horror when he started using what she gave him as a means to survive, to instead torture himself by dying over and over again to help others.

2024-05-27 02:52:40 +0000 UTCWhen Subaru says about not being able to use Return By Death if he loves himself more, he just means that he wouldn't be as willing to die to use the power, not that the power would go away. So, this explaination was left out of the anime and shouldn't have been. When Satella is first walking up in this episode, Subaru asks why the Witches aren't attacking Satella since Satella was the one that killed all the Witches. Echidna explains that Satella has multiple personality syndrome. One personality is the original, Satella (seen in this episode) and the other is just known as the Witch of Envy or just Envy (seen in episode 9/10). She further states that this was common knowledge 400 years ago, but has since been lost to time and history. It would be more accurate to say Emilia looks like Satella since Satella came first. They do look identical, but Satella wears a black and yellow hair pin on the right side of her head and wears her hair straight. Emilia wears a small flower hair pin on the left side of her head and a white rose on the right side. While also normally styling her hair in a type of braid that runs across the top of her head.

Sometimes, the anime adaptations of light novels will rearrange things, so I'm guessing that's what happened here. You will get a LOT of answers over the next 12-ish episodes, but not every question will be answered. And, naturally, you'll also be faced with more questions. Overall, I think you'll be feeling less confused soon.

2024-05-27 02:24:12 +0000 UTCSatella is supposed to be mysterious and confusing still I think, though like you I've also heard some further details were left out of the anime. As for Roswaal, we know from episode 11 I think that he wants to kill the dragon. Why, who knows. And he supports Emilia in the royal selection I assume because she can be his ticket to meet the dragon, since the dragon has some deal with the kingdom and the dragon stone prophecy and stuff we don't know much about yet. And as such I assume he wants Subaru to singlemindedly focus only on helping Emilia get through any and all obstacles to becoming the new ruler and stop being distracted by helping everyone else : /
